This side, waiting for a thousand years.
Because I finished Jianmen Pass earlier than expected, I decided to go to Cuiyun Corridor before sunset. Although Jianmen Pass is only 10 km from Cuiyun Corridor, public transportation is inconvenient. It seems that there is only a shuttle bus to Puan, and there are very few buses, so I just took a taxi there for CNY 40.
·
The Cuiyun Corridor in my impression is still the same as the one along the provincial road, winding and rugged, with ancient cypress trees towering into the sky. But the appearance in my memory is always beautiful and vague, and Cuiyun Corridor is no exception. Of course, I am talking about the broad sense of Cuiyun Corridor.
·
In a broad sense, Cuiyun Corridor is divided into the west, north, and south sections, with Jiange as the center, west to Zitong, north to Zhaohua, and south to Langzhong, with a total length of 151 km. Ancient cypress trees were planted on both sides of these three roads, and the earliest ancient trees can be traced back to the Qin and Han dynasties, known as "300 long journeys and 100,000 trees."
·
In a narrow sense, Cuiyun Corridor is actually just the Big Cypress Bay outside Jianmen Pass, which is also our destination. It is said that the name "Cuiyun Corridor" comes from a poem by Qiao Bo, the prefect of Jianzhou in the early Qing Dynasty: "Cuiyun Corridor, protected by smoke, moss flowers and rain wet clothes, and cool wind blowing through the leaves. ..." It is really a poetic name.
·
However, I always feel that the Cuiyun Corridor Scenic Area lacks a little feeling, more like a big park, not like the Shudao Lanma Wall section, which has such a historical atmosphere. But after all, the largest and most famous trees in the 300-mile Cuiyun Corridor are here.
·
Of course, fame is often related to legends. Shudao must be the Three Kingdoms. I feel that the ancient trees in Cuiyun Corridor are like the pictures of the characters and stories of the Three Kingdoms, such as "Sworn Cypress," "Longzhong Cypress," "Adou Cypress," "Zhang Fei Cypress," etc. Although they are probably not related to the prototype, they are very appropriate here.
·
Legend has it that the cypress trees in Cuiyun Corridor were first planted in the Qin Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago, and since then, large-scale tree planting has been carried out seven times in Cuiyun Corridor until the Ming Dynasty. Although cypress trees are not uncommon, they have survived thousands of years of wind, frost, rain, and snow and are still lush, which is indeed the best witness to history.

Where to go on the weekend with kids? Retrace the ancient Shu Road at Cuiyun Corridor
Cuiyun Corridor
👋Hi, welcome to my hometown Sichuan
Shu Road
was the main road from ancient Shu to Chang'an
and an important transportation hub for external exchanges in Shu.
The ancient Shu Road of Cuiyun Corridor was born alongside the Jianmen Shu Road
and is known as the 'living fossil of the forest'.

1️⃣ Broadly speaking, the ancient Shu Road of Cuiyun Corridor is divided into the western, northern, and southern sections, with Jiange as the center, extending west to Zitong, north to Zhaohua, and south to Langzhong; narrowly, the ancient Shu Road of Cuiyun Corridor refers to the Cuiyun Corridor Scenic Area, which has ancient cypress trees such as Yuanyang Cypress, Jieyi Cypress, Litchi Cypress, and Longzhongdui Cypress. On both sides of the Shu Road, ancient cypress trees tower, with the oldest being over two thousand years old!
2️⃣ This cultural and historical route is suitable for parent-child hiking, history enthusiasts, and photo enthusiasts. Most of the route is flat, making it easy for the elderly and children to complete. There are many ancient trees, so it won't be very sunny in summer. ✅I stayed in Guangyuan for two days. On the first day, I went to Jianmen Pass Scenic Area and stayed overnight in Jiange County; on the second day, I went to Cuiyun Corridor and then returned. These two scenic spots are very close, and there are joint tickets for the scenic spots. It is recommended to wear long pants, non-slip shoes, and ⚠️mosquito repellent!

Ancient cypresses, verdant and towering, guard the emerald corridor of the Shu Road
The name 'Emerald Corridor' comes from a poem by Qiao Bo, the governor of Jianzhou during the early Qing Dynasty:
"Jianmen path, rugged and uneven stone road. Who planted these rows of ancient cypresses? Three hundred miles long, a hundred thousand trees. Emerald Corridor, protected by the misty smoke, moss flowers shade the rain-soaked clothes, the cool breeze passes through the drooping leaves and curled branches. No stone is unfit for rest, every place is worthy of a verse. Dragons and snakes wind and entwine the mountains, it is said that in ancient times, it was Li Bai, the husband, who passed through, his extraordinary deeds inspire envy. Do not say the Shu Road is difficult, do not miss the Jianmen path."
Before this, the road was called 'Imperial Cypress Avenue' because it preserved many ancient pines and cypresses. The 'Imperial' refers to Qin Shi Huang. After unifying China, Qin Shi Huang ordered the construction of expressways centered on Xianyang, planting pines and cypresses along the roads. The construction of these expressways played a significant role in the establishment of the Qin Empire. The Emerald Corridor near Jianchuang on the Jinniu Road is sheltered by the pines and cypresses.
The cypress trees on the Emerald Corridor are a typical representation of the Chinese cypress community, embodying the cultural essence of Chinese cypresses and displaying a spirit that dares to defy fate and a vitality full of youthful vigor. These cypresses are rooted in the barren wilderness and rugged ridges, having endured lightning strikes, fires, storms, and snow pressures, all sorts of disasters. Although they are exposed roots and claws, broken branches and limbs, and covered in scars, they still stand stubbornly, heads held high, lush and dripping with vitality, sheltering the ancient road for a thousand years.
Recently, while organizing photos, I was once again moved by these ancient cypress trees. Their tenacious vitality has stood for hundreds, thousands of years. 'The rolling Yangtze River flows east, washing away the heroes of old. Right and wrong, success and failure, all turn to nothing. The green mountains remain, how many times has the sunset glowed red'
