The Central Post Office, designed by the renowned architect Gustave Eiffel, is a marvel of Gothic and Renaissance styles that was built in the 1880’s. Take the time to appreciate it’s beautiful interior and perhaps send a postcard from this still functioning post office. Located around 44 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the network of tunnels are built to communicate and supply arms during the resistance against French occupation and later during US proxy war. It’s right in the middle of jungle and needs an hour or more of hiking and exploring to learn and understand how they survived, resisted and defended themselves during decades of war and occupation. It’s heartbreaking and difficult to imagine the past struggles and bruises of this country that is merry and bustling now. The war memorial museums and tunnels like these will remind you of consequences of war specially when they had no part in it, to be the proxy victim of power struggles between foreign superpowers and be defenseless against such interventions.

One of the best things to do when you go to Ho Chi Minh is to visit Cu Chi Tunnels so you can immerse with the Vietnam history. These connecting tunnels were used by the Viatnamese during the Vietnam War and served as hiding spots during combat. If there's one thing they say you should see while staying in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, it's the Cu Chi Tunnels. Even if you're not that much of a history buff (ahem...hi) the Cu Chi Tunnels still make for an intersting visit and a much needed glimpse into the history of the city. The tunnels are located around 60 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, were built from around 1948 during a war against France and were an important communication tool during the Vietnam War. While the U.S. army carried out large-scale airstrikes and tank bombings, the North Vietnamese army hid in the jungle and carried out guerilla operations to attack the American army that had entered. South Vietnam's Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) and Ku I put countless tunnels around the basement of Chi. The eyes of the underground tunnel net, which was 200 kilometres long, were hidden from the ground and played an important role. Some of the underground tunnels in Kuchi are open to tourists, where they can tour the tunnel and see the pitfalls.

During the tour in Ho Chi Minh, we visited Cu Chi Tunnels in which it was part of a large network connecting various areas. We learned about the Vietnam War over here too and it was certainly a good learning experience for us.

Went to Cu Chi Tunnel with Sunset travel and it was historically a very educational experience It's a couple of hours by minibus out of Ho Chi Minh but overall definitely worth the trip. The tunnels are not easy to navigate and if you suffer from clostraphobia then this is definitely not for you. Shot an AK 47 for the experience and that wasn't too expensive either.
