I love hunting for hidden gems, so I was pretty excited to have discovered Crystal Bay in Koh Samui, Thailand. I was surprised that it wasn't as famous as the crowded beaches. Crystal Bay is small, but ideal for swimming and snorkelling as the water is clean and shallow. The boulders make nice pictures too! Getting there: Crystal Bay is located in the northeast of the island, away from the bustle. It's perfectly hidden behind a resort (Crystal Bay Beach Resort - type this into Google Maps) after you turn left into a narrow lane from the main road. Here's the catch - it's not a private beach, so the public is more than welcome. There is ample parking space at the resort or the few restaurants. You'll be greeted by a large signboard "Crystal Bay", and off you go. I didn't spot any snorkelling equipment vendors, so be sure to bring your own. I suggest going just when low tide starts as it's perfect for swimming. If you get hungry, there are a few affordable restaurants right on the sand. We chose Crystal Bay Beach Resort in Maret, Thailand, located at 205 Lamai Had Thongtakian. It's not far from Lamai and Chaweng beaches, and transportation is convenient, with free shuttles to major attractions. Taxis and walking are also convenient, and walking reveals many little surprises along the way 🌿. The resort is located on beautiful Silver Beach, and the environment is very quiet and pleasant. The hotel is in a great location, with a clean beach and shallow turquoise waters, perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Although the visibility for snorkeling is a bit poor, the clear water is satisfying! The hotel's decor is very natural, full of tropical style. The facilities are complete, with a bar, restaurant, and massage area. The front desk experience was good, and the staff was friendly and enthusiastic. We booked a villa, and the room was clean and spacious, with a large bed and a small bed, which is very thoughtful for families with children. As for the accommodation experience, the room was super spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was great, making it very relaxing. The bathroom was clean and practical, although the shower water pressure was a bit weak, but still acceptable. The balcony had a direct view of the sea, and it was a pleasure to wake up in the morning and watch the sea from the balcony. In addition, the room was well-equipped with a TV, air conditioning, etc., which was very convenient. If you dine at the hotel, the food at the restaurant is also good. Although the prices at the seaside restaurant are a bit high, the taste is really good. We especially recommend Kawin's Kitchen and Crystal Bay Yacht Club Restaurant nearby, which are just a few minutes' walk away, very convenient 🍜. Although breakfast options are limited, everything tastes delicious when enjoyed by the beach. The resort also offers various massage services to help you relax completely. The only regret is that the visibility for snorkeling is a bit poor, and we didn't see many fish, but swimming on this beautiful beach is still enjoyable. Also, since the hotel is relatively remote, you need to take a shuttle or taxi to some major attractions. If your budget allows, we recommend booking a room facing the beach for a better experience.
