[2025 Dhaka Stay] Travel Guide for Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan (Updated Apr)

Hey guys! 👋 I went on a business trip to Bangladesh recently and stayed in Dhaka for a week. It was a unique experience, and I want to share it with you! 😎 The first thing I noticed when I arrived was how crowded it was. I only saw one traffic light 🚥 in the whole city. Cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, and even horse-drawn carriages all fought for space on the road. It could take an hour to travel just 1 km. It was crazy! 😂 📄 Visas & Currency Exchange We got business visas, which made it easy to get through customs. We just had to fill out an arrival card. If you get a visa on arrival, you'll need an invitation letter and USD 51, and you'll have to wait in line. I exchanged money with a Chinese colleague at a rate of 17.5. I also exchanged money at a Chinese supermarket and a currency exchange on the street at a rate of 17.2. This was cheaper than using a credit card, so if you plan to buy expensive items like pearls, I recommend exchanging money in advance. 💰 🏨 Accommodation Dhaka has some international hotel chains, like IHG and Marriott. There's an InterContinental near the old town, close to Dhaka University and the Bangladesh National Museum, which is very convenient. The Westin and Crowne Plaza are in Gulshan, the center of the new town, but the hotels are a bit old. I highly recommend the Renaissance near the new town. It has a rooftop infinity pool, which is super fancy! 🤩 A Sheraton is also opening soon.

It's a bit of a quest to find nearby restaurants, but the hotel's heart-of-the-city vibe compensates for the culinary hunt. 📍 1 Minto Rd, Ramna, Dhaka, Bangladesh 🍸 Amari Dhaka Amari Dhaka is a mixed bag, but here's the scoop: superb security and a prime Gulshan location. Hot water and courteous staff get a thumbs up, as does the lively bar (mind the dusty sofas!). On the flip side, traffic jams and odd smells could dampen spirits. Choose your room wisely, and maybe skip the double bed. 📍 47 Road No. 41, Gulshan, Dhaka, Bangladesh 🌿 THE WAY Dhaka Nestled in the diplomatic quarters, THE WAY Dhaka is a gem. Affordable without skimping on service or cleanliness, it's quieter than its famed counterparts. The attentive staff, delicious breakfast, and serene locale make it a repeat-worthy stay. 📍 10/B/2, ROAD 54/B, Gulshan 2, Dhaka, Bangladesh 🏊‍♂️ Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre Stretch out in a spacious king deluxe room for under $130 at Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre. Comfy beds, key card floor access, and a rooftop pool with jacuzzi tick the right boxes. The gym's open round the clock, and the sauna's just a floor away.
