Hangzhou Hotel, every frame is living in the scenery
Conrad Hangzhou Review: Advantages and room for improvement
I recently stayed at the Conrad Hangzhou. After the overall experience, I felt that this is a hotel with obvious advantages and disadvantages. Let me share with you my experience of staying here in detail.
🏨Hotel Overview
Location
The hotel has an excellent location, close to the subway station and convenient transportation. The Raffles City shopping mall is downstairs and the MixC is right next to it. It has everything you need for shopping, dining and entertainment. It is extremely convenient for shopping and visiting surrounding attractions, providing great convenience for residents' lives.
Front Desk and Check-in
The hotel reception is located on the 27th floor. After checking in, you need to change the elevator on the 27th floor to go to your room. For Diamond Card members, the hotel will considerately upgrade to Executive Deluxe River View Room, where the service attitude is warm and thoughtful and the processing procedures are efficient and convenient.
🏘️Room type/layout
The executive deluxe river view room I stayed in was 50 square meters in size, with a relatively reasonable spatial layout, and was a standard business hotel style. The view outside the room window is very nice, whether it is the Qiantang River scenery during the day or the dazzling night view of the Big Golden Ball at night, it is pleasing to the eye and worth experiencing. However, the pillars in the room are a bit abrupt, which affects the overall aesthetics to a certain extent, and their presence is not weakened well through design. The bathtub in the bathroom is placed at the innermost part, which gives people a sense of oppression. There is still room for improvement in the layout.
🛌Supplies/Facilities
The hotel's bedding is very comfortable, and the turndown service is also very thoughtful. The auntie will knock on the door in advance to ask and also send small desserts. The room is kept very clean every day, and items such as skin care products are neatly placed on white mats. The cleanliness is impeccable. The gym is located on the 8th floor and has a relatively comprehensive range of equipment to meet the needs of most fitness enthusiasts. The swimming pool and spa are also on the 8th floor. Although I did not experience the swimming pool, the overall facilities looked relatively complete. The elevator from the hotel to the guest rooms is a transparent sightseeing elevator, from which you can see the entire building of Raffles. The clear view not only makes you feel happy, but is also a great place to take photos.
🧹Sound insulation/sanitation
Hygiene conditions are excellent, and the rooms and public areas are kept clean and tidy. However, there are big problems with sound insulation. Since the 50th floor is a restaurant, before 10 o'clock in the evening, there will be the thumping sounds of brisk footsteps and heavy objects falling to the ground upstairs, and there will even be occasional sounds at one or two o'clock in the morning. If you are sensitive to noise, it is not recommended to choose the room on the 49th floor, especially the room with the last digit 15. Although the hotel manager on duty was very friendly after receiving the feedback and suggested changing the room, it still had a certain impact on the stay experience.
💗Other tips
1. The service in the hotel lounge is excellent. The staff are enthusiastic and professional, and will provide detailed introductions to the surrounding food, drinks and entertainment. If you want to enjoy a quiet dining environment, it is a good choice to avoid the breakfast rush hour or choose to dine in the lounge when queuing downstairs.
2. There are many shopping malls around the hotel, with rich shopping and dining options. You can learn about the mall’s promotions and specialty restaurants in advance to better enjoy the surrounding facilities.
3. If you are concerned about room noise, you can communicate with the hotel in advance when booking and try to avoid rooms with louder noises.
Dining Experience
The hotel's catering services are remarkable. The breakfast has a wide variety of dishes and there is no queuing as mentioned online. It can meet the tastes of different guests. The snacks for afternoon tea and happy hour are diverse, including Hangzhou specialty cakes, 8 kinds of dinner dishes, and freshly mixed drinks. However, although the lounge's dishes had everything they should have, they didn't leave a particularly deep impression overall. Dinner on weekends is a full buffet with relatively few dishes, but the taste is acceptable. The breakfast in the lounge is a selection of some of the varieties downstairs. If there is a queue downstairs, going to the lounge is a good alternative.
Service experience
The hotel's service is generally very good. The staff in the lounge were particularly outstanding, welcoming, professional and made us feel right at home. Although we checked in on Friday and the hotel did not contact us in advance on Thursday, the follow-up service made up for this small shortcoming after I took the initiative to call to communicate. For example, on the noise issue, the manager on duty proposed solutions in a timely manner, demonstrating a good service attitude and ability to handle problems. However, the hotel's cost reduction and efficiency improvement are also reflected in some details, such as the small number of welcome fruits, the afternoon tea is served by seat and the taste is average, and the shape is mainly suitable for taking pictures.
Conrad Hangzhou has much to commend it for its prime location, some excellent services and nice views. However, there is still room for improvement in terms of room layout, sound insulation and catering features. You can decide whether to stay in this hotel based on your needs and concerns.
