Exploring 🇸🇬 Scenic Day at Clarke Quay and River Valley
#shioksightseeing #100waysoftravel #singapore
I spent a wonderful day sightseeing around Singapore, starting at Clarke Quay. The vibrant atmosphere was alive with energy, and the views overlooking the Singapore River were stunning. The blend of modern architecture and historical buildings created a picturesque backdrop, with Marina Bay Sands towering majestically in the distance.
I also took a stroll along River Valley Road and discovered the colorful window frames of the old fire station. The contrast of the bright colors against the historic structure added a unique charm to the area, making it a perfect spot for photos.
Overall, my day of exploring Clarke Quay and River Valley was a delightful mix of culture, history, and breathtaking views. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the vibrant spirit of Singapore.

Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is located in the central area of Singapore, situated by the Singapore River, covering an area of over 50 acres. It was once a maritime trade and cargo exchange site, consisting of five colorful buildings with more than 60 warehouses and shophouses, all of which retain their 19th-century appearance, reflecting the historical significance of the docks and warehouses.
There used to be a wharf along the Singapore River for unloading goods, which has now been transformed into a commercial consumption place that combines shopping, dining, and entertainment. Especially at night, the area is brightly lit, bustling with crowds, and filled with the joyous atmosphere of a festival. This is the famous Clarke Quay in Singapore City, a must-visit spot for tourists. We visited here on the evening of July 29, 2023.
Clarke Quay's riverside buildings, originally used for storage and cargo, have been converted into restaurants, bars, and entertainment centers. The most eye-catching at night are the open-air bars along the river, with their various exquisite decorative lights, flamboyant and dazzling, attracting everyone's attention.
Both sides of the river are filled with tourists. Groups of young people, drawn by the lifestyle and tastes, have undoubtedly become regulars there. Only we were deeply observing this world of glitz and glamour, without feeling out of place, but sometimes feeling a sense of alienation as times change.
The riverboats carry tourists along the Singapore River, offering views of the riverside scenery. Along the way, one can also admire the Merlion, the Durian Pavilion (Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay), and the financial center skyscrapers. There is also a direct boat to the observation wheel at the mouth of the Singapore River.
The canopy of Clarke Quay is one of its distinctive features, stretching endlessly and covering almost the entire dock area, providing shelter from the unpredictable Singapore climate. During the day, the canopy is transparent and unremarkable. But at night, it begins to exude a charming magic, changing colors with the rhythm, full of charm.
Humans are innately phototropic, and the commercial landmark effect of Clarke Quay is instantly showcased under the illumination of lights. Coupled with the twinkling stars reflected from the transparent glass curtain walls, the leisurely atmosphere is fully embodied at Clarke Quay.

Online and offline city walk in Singapore
The world-renowned garden city of Singapore, from the moment you land at Changi Airport, you can start your city walk.
After seeing the indoor waterfall at Changi Airport, head straight to Sentosa and Universal Studios. Experience the ocean in the garden, and the garden in the ocean.
The Rainbow Police Station and Clarke Quay are also must-visit spots.
😘 Don't miss the delicacies at Chinatown, and the Night Safari in the evening.
🌹 The Merlion is unforgettable for photos, and then head to one of Singapore's landmarks, Marina Bay. The towering Marina Bay Sands and the durian-shaped Esplanade, along with the lush Gardens by the Bay, are interwoven here to outline a fascinating and breathtaking skyline.
For those who prefer quiet, you can go to Koon Seng Road, with buildings in soft colors built in the 1920s, once the residences of Peranakan Chinese. The exquisite details, patterns, and tile decorations inside each shophouse are evident. River Safari, located between Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, is a river-themed zoo and an alternative 'aquarium'.
🍀 For food, in addition to Chinatown, there are various hawker centers. This is a microcosm of Singapore's melting pot culture, with each ethnic group and culture in Singapore contributing unique flavors and aromas to every dish. In hawker centers, you can find all of Singapore's delicacies including Laksa, Indian Roti Prata, Curry Fish Head, Nasi Lemak, Satay, Rojak, Chicken Rice, and Stir-fried Rice Noodles.
If you don't have time to travel yet, you can now participate in the Singapore Digital Souvenir event and receive Singapore digital souvenirs, letting you experience the vibrant, innovative, and green Singapore online.

Singapore | Clarke Quay Boat Experience
A must-do in Singapore is to take a boat ride at Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is one of the oldest quays in Singapore. In the early days, the quay was a place where merchants loaded and unloaded goods on small boats, and the nearby shops were used as warehouses. Later, these shops were transformed, painted in vibrant colors, and became the most concentrated entertainment destination in Singapore. There are shopping centers/restaurants during the day, suitable for family trips with children strolling along the riverbank; at night, there are bars/dance halls, where groups of young people gather to chat.
We took it in the afternoon, the night view will be better
It lasts for 40 minutes, suitable for all ages
The boat route is different from the Duck Boat, it feels a bit like a painting boat, the old wooden boat has more charm
🎫: You can buy tickets on the spot

Dumpling Darlings: A Dumpling Haven
📍 86 Circular Rd, Singapore 049438
Dumpling Darlings is a small but immensely popular artisan fusion dumpling haven, left me with a deep appreciation for the art of dumpling making. Situated at 86 Circular Rd, Singapore 049438, this charming eatery boasts an array of delectable dumplings and more.
The star of the show, of course, was the dumplings themselves. Bursting with flavor and creativity. Pairing these dumplings with their thick noodles was an absolute delight. The satisfying texture of the noodles perfectly complemented the dumplings, creating a harmonious and memorable meal.
To wash it all down, we enjoyed refreshing grapefruit and lemonade drinks that added a zesty twist to our dining experience. One combo that stood out for me was the spicy pork dumplings paired with shredded pork noodles. The balance of spice and savory flavors was spot on, making it my personal favorite.

Clark Quay: Day and Night Landscape
Clark Quay, Singapore’s iconic riverside entertainment district, offers a captivating transformation from day to night.
From the vantage point of The Central’s Level 4 carpark, I had the privilege of capturing the picturesque landscape of Clark Quay in all its glory. It’s a good public location to capture Timelapse or paranormal footage of the landscape.

Colorful Waterfront
Clarke Quay has an interesting mix of colorful colonial-era buildings, shopping malls, restaurants, and bars. During the daytime, there are people exercising and walking their dogs, and I like to just sit by the water, drink an iced tea, and eat some matcha ice cream. At night, the place is very lively and it’s nice to have a drink with friends here or bring a date here. Fort Canning is right next door, so I like to visit both Clarke Quay and Fort Canning in one day.

Slingshot Adventurous ride
#mysgmemories
Address - 3E River Valley Road, Clarke Quay, Block E, 179024
Highlights - thrilling adventurous ride
Rating - 5/5
After we had our drinks at Clarke quay, we walked around. This attraction that catches our eyes - The slingshot. It was a very exciting game not for the faint-hearted people. The ticket cost $45 per ride. You can get a combo package that includes the slingshot and the gx5 extreme swing, which cost $70. You get to save $20 if you purchase the combo package. It was very interesting to see how excited the people were, when they sat on the chair waiting for the ride to start. Maybe one day we will have the courage to be swinged up to 70 meters above ground level. Anyway, this is a great ride for those who are looking for an exciting ride here.

Seafood Resturant at clarke quay
#mysgmemories
Newly opened resturant at Clarke Quay. They served Chinese cuisine, like local delights and fresh seafood. Their signature is the Creamy butter crab topped with coconut crumbs! This is a must try!
It is located at Blk A #01-03. Nearest mrt is clarke Quay station and walk about 10 minutes.
The resturant is quite small, so it will be recommended to make reservation in advance to avoid disappointment! Be more Kiasu!
After eating, can go for a walk along the Singapore River to burn the calories away!
Happy 58th Birthday Singapore!

Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is famous as the entertainment district in Singapore which offers a variety of interesting attractions from morning to night. Here, you will be amazed by the sparkling lights of buildings and entertainment center buildings, but on the other hand you can admire the old houses in the Clarke Quay area.
I recommend you to take pictures in front of Old Hill Street Police Station. This building looks striking from the outside because apart from having a classic style and lots of windows, this former police station is also painted in colors like a rainbow.

Downtown Singapore in a well spent weekend
#singapore
Downtown Singapore is well connected between various spots, where one can start their journey at Bencoolen/Bras Basah Area, to City Hall, Marina Bay, Clarke Quay etc. There are many iconic buildings where one can take stunningly beautiful pictures such as The National Art Gallery, Fullerton Hotel, Victoria Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, CHIJMES, School of the Arts etc. Be it a tourist or locals it is worthwhile to engage in a walking trip to enjoy the architectures with different styles around the city, understand the history behind them and admiring the layouts and decorations. This I believe is the best way to understand Singapore, The City of Lion.

If you are a fan of Disney Micky mouse characters then you should not miss out taking a picture with him at the Singapore Flyer. At the same time, hop onto the Singapore Flyer to enjoy a beautiful night view of Singapore marina promenade. You would definitely be amazed by the beautiful night scene in Singapore.
My 2023 travel wish is to fly to Bangkok. I would love to try their Ferris wheel too, located at the Asiatique night market. The place is a combo of our Singapore Clarke quay and Singapore Flyer. It would be an enjoyable experience to have a bird's eye view of Bangkok area.

Riverside Point, another riverview in SG!
Located at Clarke Quay Singapore, a hotspot for nightlife with clubs, pubs and eateries. Easy access via MRT which outside of Clarke Quay Station, North East Line (purple). It is different view daytime and night, recommend to experience both.
I personally would like recommend one Greece Restaurant at riverside - Zorba The Greek Tarvena, which serves good quality Greek foods and drinks. Price is about average, still acceptable.
There are a lots of pubs and clubs here, after dinner, you can consider to go for second round chill with your friends. Or you can take a walk along Singapore river and enjoy the night riverview.

trying the fickle feline cheesecake so you don’t have to
Ordered 🐱 cheesecakes on @catandthefiddlecakes website and picked them up on my way home
𝐅𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞
This colourful cake assortment was a match made in heaven for us, as we could try 10 of their best-selling flavours in one go 🤤
Here’s my personal ranking (biased towards fruity flavours) starting from top faves:
1️⃣ 𝗡𝟭 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗸𝗶 𝗡𝗲𝗸𝗼 (𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘆 𝗬𝘂𝘇𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻) - the most popular amongst us, this citrusy piece of cake was light, refreshing and disappeared in minutes!
2️⃣ 𝗡𝟭𝟴 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗺'𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 (𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁) - I enjoyed the novel combination of yogurt cream cheese, roselle tea jelly cubes and pistachio bits - no wonder it’s the cake of the month
3️⃣ 𝗔𝟯 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗿'𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 & 𝗟𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀) - the rose and lychee flavour (from real fruit slices) was truly outstanding
4️⃣𝗡𝟰 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 (𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆) - filled with chewy strawberry chunks and strawberry jam, this was quite delightful
5️⃣ 𝗡𝟯 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸) - basic but not basic, this vanilla-infused cheesecake was ultra creamy and rich
6️⃣ 𝗔𝟮 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗝𝘂𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀) - the white chocolate shavings on the side paired with mango gave a pleasant sweet-sour nuance
7️⃣ 𝗡𝟳 𝗦𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘀 (𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘂) - I was just expecting a coffee-based cheesecake, so really blown away by the soft lady’s finger sponge and mascarpone cheese in the middle
8️⃣ 𝗡𝟮 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗗𝘂𝗸𝗲'𝘀 𝗣𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗢𝗿𝗲𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀 & 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺) - covered with oreo crumbs on the top and bottom, the flavour was more on the mild side
9️⃣𝗡𝟲 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 & 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗳𝗳𝘆 (𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹) - this had an interesting smoky aftertaste which contrasted well with the sweet taffy
1️⃣0️⃣𝗡𝟱 𝗣𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘆 (𝗬𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 & 𝗧𝗲𝗮) - a flavour bomb with a mixture of espresso and Hong Kong-style milk tea
𝐓𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐭
This half-baked cheese cake was really impressive in terms of the velvety texture, which was thick yet smooth at the same time. The rich scrumptious taste was also super fulfilling, highly recommended!

Address - 47 South Bridge Road, Singapore 058680.
Highlights - We didn't try the mains as we were more interested in trying the petit gateaux (small cakes in French) which looked so cute! We tried pebble (black sesame flavour), pomme (which means apple in French) and gentle daisy. Would love to go back to try the other petit gateaux.
We also ordered mentaiko fries. The fries were crispy and tasted savoury together with the mentaiko sauce and seaweed. Coffee was average.
Ambiance/Facilities - Minimalist
