[2025 Ningbo Attraction] Travel Guide for Cihu Park (Updated Apr)

As you reach Cicheng Ancient Town in Ningbo, you’re welcomed by old style buildings which you can tell have been rebuilt more recently. It is still a lovely walk and the locals in the shops are worth visiting too. At the end of the main road of Cicheng lies Cihu Lake. The lake continues the path from Cicheng with the pavilion lay in the centre, but if you head to the left from here you will find yourself walking through the trees and can explore multiple paths leading through foresty areas. The whole place is free to explore and it could be worth spending a good few hours walking through the area, especially on the cooler days of Spring and Summer. There is a parking lot. 2. By public transport: Take Subway Line 1 to Beilun Passenger Transport Center, then transfer to bus 790/721/792 and get off at the scenic spot entrance. 👍Recommended photo spots: 1. Plum Blossom Path: A small path paved with fallen petals, with gnarled branches on both sides, suitable for taking photos with an ancient style. 2. Plum Shadow Pool: The pool reflects the flower shadows, capturing the artistic conception of "sparse shadows slanting across the clear water." 3. Fish Scale Dam: A newly popular spot, with cascading stone steps set against the plum blossoms. 🕙Afternoon ✅Cihu Park (Cicheng Ancient Town): 🌟Highlights: The charm of the lake and plum blossoms next to the thousand-year-old town. The spring scenery of the plum garden, ancient pavilions, black tiles, and the reflection of Cihu Lake intertwine. 🚉Transportation: 1. By car: Navigate to "Cihu Park." There are parking lots nearby. 2. By public transport: Take Subway Line 4 to Cicheng Station, then walk or take a taxi for about 1.5 km. 👍Recommended photo spots: 1. Lake Heart Pavilion: The pavilion with red pillars and black tiles, along with the drooping plum branches, is suitable for taking photos with a meticulous painting style. 2. Northwest Plum Garden: Red and white plum blossoms against the dark lake and mountains. In the morning mist, you can capture the moment of "unique charm within the fragrance." 🕙Afternoon + Evening: ✅Baiyun Manor (Hidden Gem): 🌟Highlights: The ultimate plum blossom viewing spot in Ningbo. The riverside plum garden with sparse shadows, combined with the Ming Dynasty academy architecture, and fewer tourists. 🚉Transportation: 1. By car: Navigate to "Ningbo Baiyun Manor." There are temporary parking spaces near the entrance. 2. By public transport: Take Subway Line 1 to "Zemin" Station and walk for 15 mins; or take bus 156/159 to "Baiyun Manor" Station. 👍Recommended photo spots: 1. Riverside Plum Garden: Plum trees wind along the river, with stone paths and flower shadows intertwined, suitable for symmetrical composition. 2. Waterfront Platform: Plum blossoms reflect in the river. No climbing or hiking today, just a route suitable for flatland hiking. Route: Maoli Village → Maoli Reservoir → Mao'ao Village → Cicheng Of course, you can also do this route in reverse. Public transportation: 🚇 Subway (Line 4 to Cicheng), taxi to Maoli Village - 🏘️ I didn't visit Maoli Village, but the popular coffee shop run by a German uncle is here, so you can try it if you come. 🏞️ Maoli Reservoir is surrounded by green mountains. It's very pleasant to walk along the reservoir's boardwalk, enjoy the autumn breeze, and bask in the sun. There are also coffee shops and campsites along the way, so you can take a break if you're tired. 🏡 Mao'ao Village is really beautiful, and I've recommended it in a separate note before. ⛩️ Cicheng was a surprise this time. Everyone thought they could keep walking, so we walked from Mao'ao Village to Cicheng. Cicheng and Cihu are together, so you can explore them both. You can actually spend a whole day here, and I've introduced it in detail in a previous note. [Food] There's no shortage of food on this route. The villages are a given, but there are also many fruit farmers selling freshly picked fruits along the reservoir, and you can even pick your own. Cicheng has a wide variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and snacks.

The historical heritage of Cihu is widely spread The scenery of Cihu is vaguely picturesque. The Wupeng boat on Cihu is full of red and green fruits and vegetables. The wine brewed by the old man is full of the harvest of the northern Jiangbei, bringing joy to every tourist. Cihu was excavated in the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. It was called "Kan Lake", also known as "Derun Lake" and "Puzi Lake". The home of Yang Jian, a famous scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty, was by the lake. Inspired by the story of Dong An, a filial son of the Han Dynasty, he changed "Kan Lake" to "Cihu", and Cihu became famous. Cihu Park Cihu is located in the northern part of the city of Cicheng Town, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, with clear water like a mirror in all seasons, surrounded by mountains on three sides. During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, it was excavated by the then county magistrate, Fang Xuanling (who was the prime minister during the reign of Emperor Suzong of the Tang Dynasty) for irrigation. It has a history of nearly 1,300 years. The Cihu Park is shaded by green trees and has a quiet environment. It is a good place for citizens to take a walk and relax.
