Zhongying Street is indeed quite nice!
Zhongying Street, with its vintage charm, borders Shenzhen on one side and Hong Kong on the other. It began to take shape after the boundary was demarcated in 1899. Until the handover of Hong Kong, it was 'divided and ruled' by China and Britain using boundary stones as markers, with as many as seven boundary stones erected on the short stretch of Zhongying Street at one point. On July 1, 1997, after the Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong, Zhongying Street formed a new pattern of 'one street, two systems' under the framework of 'one country, two systems,' fundamentally changing its nature. In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Zhongying Street became a 'Famous Historical and Cultural Street of China'.
Tips:
1. Apply for a temporary border pass in advance through the 'Shatoujiao Border Special Management Zone Pass Handling' mini-program. You can apply on the same day on weekdays, but you need to apply in advance on weekends due to the crowd. Remember to bring your original ID card to queue up for the temporary pass after approval.
2. The sequence of entering Zhongying Street from pictures 2-7 can be seen along the way. Remember, only those with Hong Kong and Macau passes can cross the border, temporary passes are not allowed.
3. Pictures 8-13 show the exhibits next to the Police Warning Bell in the museum, where two sub-bells of the Police Warning Bell are displayed separately.
4. Pictures 14-15 are of the Shatoujiao Sea's waterfront boardwalk, from where you can see Hong Kong's Shun Lung Street (as shown on Baidu Maps).
5. Picture 16 shows that if you walk along the waterfront boardwalk, you can see the ancient tower park.
6. Pictures 17-18 are some snacks bought on Zhongying Street. The prices here are in Hong Kong dollars, and you can pay directly by scanning a QR code, which will be slightly cheaper, but not as cheap as some online postings suggest (it might also depend on what you buy).
7. If you have shopped, you need to queue up for security checks when leaving. If you haven't shopped, you can leave easily.

Zhongying Street is actually the boundary between Hong Kong and Shenzhen!!
There is a mainland entrance where you can visit the duty-free shops in the Hong Kong town without levy, located in Shatoujiao, Shenzhen. The road traffic is very convenient, and the government also boosts the transportation with subway exit sign guidance. There is also a special direct bus at the station entrance, so foreign tourists don't have to worry about getting lost.
Additionally, the document processing is so fast. Search for 'Shatoujiao Border Special Management Area Pass Processing' on the WeChat official account, and you will get an immediate response after applying. Volunteers will also help guide the processing of the physical pass upon arrival, but the main form of identification for entry and exit is still the ID card.
If you don't have much demand for items, the goods are actually not much different, but of course, the things in the duty-free shops are indeed somewhat different from the inland goods, and they are even cheaper.
For sightseeing, the main attractions are Zhongying Street and the Zhongying Street Museum.
The scenery is really nice, with the sky high and the clouds light. Because of the architectural style and atmosphere, there is a feeling of being in a British town.
But then I heard a little girl ask her father why there has to be a boundary between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and I really felt a kind of sour and astringent feeling in my heart.
The Zhongying Street Museum mainly revolves around the origin and development of Zhongying Street.
From the small issue of the ownership of Zhongying Street, one can see how China has step by step moved towards prosperity over the past thousands of years.

Shenzhen's Little Hong Kong
In Shenzhen, there is a very famous street, it is one of the 'Four Major Divides of the 21st Century World'. On one side is China, and on the other side was, at the time, British territory, which is how it gained its fame. It is known as 'Zhongying Street'

A Street Divided - The Historical Background of China-UK Street
💟 China-UK Street is located at the junction of Shatoujiao Street, Yantian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, and the North District of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It backs onto Wutong Mountain and faces Dapeng Bay to the south. The small river flowing from Wutong Mountain to Dapeng Bay has silted up to form the street, originally named 'Egret Path'. It is about 250 meters long and 3-4 meters wide. The street is divided by a 'boundary stone' in the middle, and there are shops on both sides of the street, offering a wide range of products from all five continents.
💟 China-UK Street has five streets and roads, including pedestrian streets, ring roads, seaside streets, cross streets, and Bihai Roads. The main buildings include entrance squares, entrance buildings, arcades, corner buildings, corner squares, banyan tree-lined roads, return squares, Tin Hau Temple squares, seaside viewing roads, China-UK Street landmark tower parks, seaside green water corridors, and China-UK Street sculpture walls. On June 8, 2012, China-UK Street was rated as a famous historical and cultural street in China. From January 1, 2018, the 10 yuan fee for the 'Border Special Management Area Pass' to enter China-UK Street has been officially cancelled. The pass processing time is 8:30-12:00 and 13:00-16:00, at the pass processing hall at the entrance of China-UK Street.
💟 Historical Background
◉ The historical background of China-UK Street is the Opium War. In 1840, the UK launched the Opium War, and China suffered a defeat under the UK's strong ships and guns. On August 29, 1842, China and the UK signed the 'China-UK Nanjing Treaty', which stipulated: 'Because British merchant ships, often damaged and need to be repaired, should be given a place along the ship for ship repair and storage of materials. Now the Emperor has granted the island of Hong Kong to the British monarch and his successors, who will always be in charge and can legislate and govern at will.' From then on, Shatoujiao, a small town in Xin'an County, was pushed to the forefront of the border line.
◉ On June 9, 1898, the 'China-UK Hong Kong Boundary Extension Treaty' was signed in Beijing, the main content of which was: 'The governments of China and the UK have roughly agreed to extend the British boundary according to the attached map, as the new lease. The detailed boundary should be determined after the two countries have sent representatives to investigate, and it will be stipulated for a period of ninety-nine years.' The boundary surveyors of China and the UK came to Shatoujiao and started to measure and survey along the river from the seaside. Wooden boundary stakes were erected at the measured points, with the words 'Boundary of Xin'an County, Qing Dynasty' written on them. Later, they were changed to stone boundary markers, and 20 boundary markers were erected on the border of Shatoujiao, eight of which were in Shatoujiao Town, evenly erected in the middle of a small sand and stone river on the side of Tongwu Market. Shatoujiao was divided into two parts, the east side was the Chinese Shatoujiao, and the west side was the British (Hong Kong) Shatoujiao. Later, people filled in the old river and built houses to do business on both sides of the old river, so a street was formed in the middle of the old river. Because the China-UK boundary line is in the middle of this street, people call it China-UK Street.

The Zhongying Street must-buy list includes facial cleanser, soap, shampoo, we also bought a lot, of course, you can't miss the food, there is a wide variety of snacks here, cheap prices, buy to your heart's content, it doesn't feel like a lot of money was spent, the main thing is that it's economical
