Hotaka is located in the Hida Mountains of Japan. All of its major peaks, except for Mae-Hotaka, are located on the border of Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
The peaks of Okuhotaka, Karasawa, Kitahotaka, Maehotaka, and Nishihotaka are called the Hotaka Mountains. The highest peak in this mountain range, and also the highest peak in both Nagano and Gifu prefectures, is Okuhotakadake, known as the “main peak of the Northern Alps.”
Okuhotakadake is 3,190 meters above sea level and is the third highest peak in Japan after Mount Fuji and Mount Kitayama.
In 1906, Gunji Abe completed the first ascent of Okuhotakadake.
To view the Hotaka Mountains, you can take the cable car up to Nishi-Hotakadake, which is 3,090 meters above sea level. From the viewing platform, you can have a panoramic view of the Hotaka peaks. #Overseas Travel #Japan Travel #Japan Good Places #Japan Tour #Mountain #Mountaintop Cable Car #Mountaintop Park #Nagano Prefecture #Gifu Prefecture
