Shaoxing is not only the hometown of Lu Xun, but also this niche treasure spot
hi~ I am Cinderella. Xi
Speaking of the most recommended treasure spots for a trip around Hangzhou,
Shaoxing is definitely my top choice for a weekend getaway.
Based on my ten trips to Shaoxing, I've gathered some experience,
and today I'm going to show you a different way to enjoy the city.
You can enjoy beautiful scenery without the crowds.
The underestimated small town of Shangyu, near Shaoxing,
gave me a big surprise, with many niche attractions worth visiting.
🚗Transportation
🚄Take the high-speed train to 'Shangyu South/Shaoxing East' station, then it's more convenient to take a taxi from there.
👉🏻About my 2️⃣-day 1️⃣-night itinerary:
Day1️⃣
Shijing Reservoir 👉🏻 Fenghuang Mountain Archaeological Site Park 👉🏻 Exotic Night Market Street
Day2️⃣
Chinese Filial Piety Park👉🏻Zhongxin Art Museum👉🏻Lizhi Street
✅About the attractions
1️⃣Shijing Reservoir
A vast forest of water fir trees is a healing green wonderland, and it's even more stunning when the water fir turns yellow in autumn and winter. You can also go boating on the lake, camping, and barbecuing.
2️⃣Fenghuang Mountain Archaeological Site Park
There's a museum, experience hall, and you can take kids to try making celadon. The site allows you to see the original firing scene, and there's also a reservoir nearby with a riverbank full of flowers in spring, which is very beautiful.
3️⃣Exotic Night Market Street
Next to the Filial Piety Park, it's a lively market that integrates food, entertainment, and cultural creativity, perfect for a stroll in the evening.
4️⃣Chinese Filial Piety Park
A park themed around 'filial piety culture', it has a large area with many photogenic spots, including a group of elephant sculptures at the entrance that are great for photos.
5️⃣Zhongxin Art Museum
Opening hours (8:30~11:30/12:30-16:00)
Located very close to the Filial Piety Park, like Guozhuang and Yunsong Book House, it's a delicate garden with scenic views everywhere, and there are many fine wood carvings to view and learn about history.
6️⃣Lizhi Street
A street full of food and coffee, perfect for photos and checking in. It's not big, you can walk through it in 20 minutes, and it's a bit more lively on holidays with markets and performances.
🏘️About accommodation
🔺This time I stayed at the Shangyu Marriott Hotel, which opened in September. The hotel's unique design has both modern and traditional Jiangnan water town charm, and the quality service is also memorable. Moreover, the hotel's location is convenient for all attractions, and it's only 10 minutes from the high-speed train station.
🔺The hotel offers Chinese cuisine, Japanese food, and all-day dining options. I happened to be there during Halloween and experienced a buffet feast with a variety of delicious foods, including small green dragons and a salmon seafood feast. In the evening, you can go to the lounge bar to enjoy a tipsy time, listen to music performances, and have a deep conversation with friends, which is very atmospheric.
🔺The hotel also has a full range of facilities including a swimming pool and gym to fill your leisure time and make your trip more energetic.
