Obviously, Pu'er is known for its famous tea and the tea-growing areas around it. Therefore, any visit to the city wouldn't be complete without a stop here at the Pu'er Tea Museum. We wanted to learn more about this important commodity, so this museum provided us with the answers. We learned about the various local ethnic groups and their relationships with tea, the history of the local area and the Tea Horse Road and also about the process of making the teas. We went here in the morning and admission was free. The staff were also very nice and polite. Getting here is easy by taxi or private car, although it was basically next to our hotel anyway. It's definitely best to come here and learn about the history before visiting a plantation or the Tea Horse Road, as it definitely adds a perspective on everything and enbables you to better understand everything. If you want to take the battery car in the scenic area, you need to pay an additional CNY 50 per person. The staff said that there is a 6-km mountain road, so we chose to take the battery car in the scenic area. After visiting two viewing points, we returned to the starting point. Practice has proved that it is not cost-effective to take the battery car in the scenic area, as there is no good scenery and the mountain road is not that far.
