Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew (Kruba Boonchum), Chiang Rai Province
Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew is a Buddhist meditation center and tourist attraction. It is located at 555 Moo 5, Tambon Si Don Mun, Amphoe Chiang Saen, Chiang Rai Province. Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew is a temple in Chiang Saen District built by Phra Khru Ba Boonchum. Phra Khru Ba Boonchum Yanasangvaro, an Aranyawasi Bhikkhu, is highly respected by people in the North. When he was a novice, Boonchum spent his third Lent at Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew. When he spent his first and second Lent at Wat Ban Dai Prasit, he had an idea to build Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew. He had a vision of an old stupa and that he would return to be the one to restore it. He did return to build Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew. Inside Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew, there is a Buddha image, the first Somdej Phra Khandhara, a hut in the middle of the water in the middle of Aranyawasi pond, a Dharma hall for listening to sermons, a Boonchum Yen pavilion, a Vipassana pavilion, a Chamras Saeng pavilion, and the First Rattana Vihara Ubosot. Phra That Doi Wiang Kaew has a meditation center, Doi Wiang Kaew Temple, which is a beautiful temple in the Lanna style mixed with diverse cultures.
