Chohoji(Rokkakudo) Temple is a Buddhist temple in Nakagyo, Kyoto, Japan. Chohoji(Rokkakudo) Temple is a temple of the Tendai sect. is believed to have been founded in the early Heian period by Prince Shotoku. The Chohoji(Rokkakudo)Temple, the birthplace of ikebana, is formally known as Shiunzan. The main hall enshrines the principal image, and in front of the hall is a "Rokkaku willow tree," known as a matchmaking symbol. also closely associated with Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Shinshu.
The temple is also the 18th temple of the pilgrimage to the 33 sacred sites of the Kannon in the western part of Japan and is still visited by many pilgrims today.
