Pulau Ubin Chek Jawa Wetlands
A trip to Pulau Ubin is not complete without a visit to Chek Jawa. From the Ubin Jetty, you can either rent a cycle, hire a van, or even walk(40 mins)to Chek Jawa. If you cycle, do note that there are a couple of upslopes along the way.
There is only a vending machine at the entrance, so bring sufficient water before visiting. As Chek Jawa is an intertidal area, it is best to go during Low tide. Check tide tables before visiting! Best to go in the morning with Low tide, as the area is not shaded and can get very hot! Plan about 1.5 hours for the visit.
First stop is the visitor centre, which used to be a colonial house. the Tudor style house even has a fireplace. From there, can walk along the jetty to take nice photos of the surrounding. After that, walk along the coastal boardwalks and mangrove boardwalks to see what the exposed areas has to offer in terms of marine life and plants. Final stop is the 7 satires high Jejawi tower where you can view the tree canopy as well as the shoreline and beyond.

Accessible via a scenic bike ride or walk, it offers a rare chance to explore Singapore’s natural heritage. The boardwalk and viewing tower provide stunning views of the wetlands and abundant wildlife, including mudskippers, crabs, and migratory birds. Guided tours are available for a deeper understanding of this biodiversity hotspot. Its unspoiled beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit for nature lovers. Remember to check the tide times for the best experience and bring water for the journey.

Chek Jawa Wetlands
#singaporetrip The natural beauty of island is awe-inspiring. From the moment I set foot on its powdery white-sand beaches, I was enchanted by the crystal-clear waters that gently lapped at the shore. The island's lush, tropical vegetation creates a vivid contrast against the turquoise sea, and the verdant hills and mountains provide endless opportunities for exploration and hiking. Sunsets here are nothing short of spectacular, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, making every evening a postcard moment.

Chek Jawa is a further walk from the Ubin Jetty, around 3km and we surely walked more than 40mins but the views are definitely worth it! It’s a unique natural area, where six major ecosystems (sandy beach, rocky beach, seagrass lagoon, coral rubble, mangroves and coastal forest) meet. We took a 1km walk along the boardwalk and got to enjoy the cool coastal breeze, it was especially welcoming under the unforgiving hot sun.. Having explored both Puaka hill and Chek Jawa Wetlands on the same day, we were too tired to walk back to the Jetty. Instead, we ride out a taxi ($5/pax) and got to the Ubin Jetty to enjoy a delicious dinner with a gorgeous view! I don’t know how many people knows this but there is a snack shop that sells the most delicious egg ham burger. The bread roll is buttered and grilled, tucked inside is the fluffiest omelette with a slice of melted cheese and ham. It looks so inconspicuous sitting the half a day on the display but nobody would have guessed it to taste sooo good. No, it’s not my hunger talking lol. I’ll go back on the ferry just to determine this again.
