Just came back from Chaozhou, I have something to say...
My dears👋, I just came back from a happy trip to Chaozhou, and I can’t wait to tell you about this trip😜! The city of Chaozhou is really full of surprises, and there are so many small details I want to share. Hurry up and take your stool to listen to me~
1. Transportation experience🚗
I went there by high-speed rail, and Chaoshan Station is still some distance away from Chaozhou. As soon as you exit the station, there will be all kinds of people soliciting for customers, don’t panic! Although the bus is cheap, you have to wait and the route is roundabout. My friends and I decided to carpool 🚕, the price was cheaper than taking a taxi, and we chatted and laughed, and soon arrived in the city.
2. Amazing attractions🎇
1. Paifang Street: This place is a must-see destination in Chaozhou🤩! As soon as you step in, the ancient atmosphere hits you in the face. There are many archways standing on both sides of the street, each of which seems to be telling a story from the past. As you walk, you feel like you have traveled back to ancient times. There are all kinds of shops on the street, selling traditional handicrafts 🎁 and various special snacks. It’s so fun to eat and shop along the way!
2. Guangji Bridge: Wow😲, this bridge is so unique! As one of the four ancient bridges in China, it is half beam bridge and half floating bridge, with a super wonderful structure. During the day, it spans the river steadily, with extraordinary momentum; at night, when the lights are on, the entire bridge is shining, like a dazzling dragon lying on the river. The photo effect is amazing 📸, and I took a lot of beautiful photos here.
3. Chaozhou Ancient City Wall: Strolling along the ancient city wall by the Han River, with the river breeze blowing gently across your face, it is so comfortable🌬. The ancient city wall is quite old, and you can see traces left by the years. Walking on it, you seem to be able to touch the historical pulse of Chaozhou. Overlooking the Han River from the city wall, the scenery is breathtaking. You can see ships coming and going on the river, which is full of life.
4. Chaozhou West Lake: Don’t think that Hangzhou is the only city with West Lake. The West Lake in Chaozhou is also very charming! The lake is crystal clear, surrounded by green trees and dotted with pavilions, like a beautiful painting. Here, you can take a leisurely walk 🚶, or rent a boat to row on the lake and enjoy a relaxing time.
3. Food Feast🍱
1. Chaozhou Beef Balls: I have to praise this beef ball, it is so bouncy that it can bounce to the ceiling! The moment you bite it, the juice bursts in your mouth. The taste is fresh, tender and chewy, so delicious 👍. I can eat several of them in one breath. It is really a must-eat delicacy in Chaozhou.
2. Rice noodle rolls: The rice noodle rolls in Chaozhou are different from the ones I’ve had before. The fillings are very rich, with shrimp, pork, eggs... full of them, and then topped with a special sauce. The taste is extremely fresh and fragrant 😋. Every bite is super satisfying. Having one for breakfast will make you full of energy for the whole day.
3. Kueh soup: This is a Chaozhou specialty food. Kueh soup is soft and delicious. It is paired with braised meat, rice noodles and other side dishes. The taste is rich. A mouthful of kueh soup and a mouthful of side dishes, the flavor spreads in the mouth, leaving people with endless aftertaste🤤.
4. Yamu Nian: When I first saw this name, I thought it was some novelty, but it turned out to be a dessert that looks like glutinous rice balls. It has many different fillings, is sweet but not greasy, and looks super cute. It makes you feel extremely happy when you eat it😜.
4. Accommodation options🏨
I recommend that you stay near Paifang Street, which is convenient for travel and has many delicious foods nearby. The homestays here have various styles, including simple and modern ones, as well as retro styles full of Chaoshan characteristics. The prices fluctuate according to different room types and seasons. I did my homework online in advance and chose a homestay with good reviews. The room was clean and tidy, the owner was very enthusiastic, and the stay was very comfortable🛏.
5. Intimate Tips⚠️
1. Chaozhou is very hot in summer, so be sure to take sun protection measures and bring sunscreen and a sun hat👒, otherwise you will easily get tanned.
2. Although delicious food is good, some snacks have a strong taste. Children with weak stomachs should eat them in moderation to avoid getting an upset stomach.
3. When visiting tourist attractions, please protect the environment, do not litter 🚮, and be a civilized tourist.
4. When buying local specialties or souvenirs, you can try to bargain, maybe you can save some money😏.
My dears, Chaozhou is really a great tourist city with beautiful scenery, delicious food, and a strong atmosphere of life. I strongly recommend everyone to go there, I believe you will fall in love with this city💕!
