The Taihu Museum in Changxing County, Huzhou City, is a must-visit themed museum for self-driving around Taihu Lake!
Huzhou, since ancient times, has been a rich land of fish and rice in the south of the Yangtze River. The beautiful mountains in the west and the flat Taihu Lake in the east are typical of the southern water towns. In the very popular Taihu Lake self-driving route, the smoothest section of the road is within the jurisdiction of Huzhou City. Although Taihu Lake is now under the jurisdiction of Suzhou City, Huzhou City only has a nearshore area along the lake within its territory. But the largest and most content-rich Taihu-themed museum is located on the shore of Taihu Lake in Changxing County, Huzhou City.
The scale of the Taihu Museum in Changxing County is very large, and the uniquely shaped exhibition hall building also has a huge overhead view of Taihu Lake. Driving from Huzhou City along Taihu Avenue, you can see the Taihu Lake logo on this beautiful building on the opposite side of the bay from a distance. The museum does not charge admission, but the parking lot does. The parking environment is good and the cost is not high.
You can find the formation and history of Taihu Lake in this museum. I tend to believe in the meteorite theory. However, the old saying 'When Suzhou and Lake are ripe, the world is enough' refers to the rich Taihu Lake basin, which is the real land of fish and rice. Today, it is also one of the most developed regions in our country.
For a self-driving trip around Taihu Lake, this Taihu-themed museum is worth stopping for a visit. The surrounding lake-viewing platforms are also good places to rest and enjoy the scenery. Don't miss it when you pass by.
