It took a while to get to it because it’s a fair way out of the city but once we got the right bus it was good. This place is really good We were accompanied by a robot in a private and audible clock to the Changi Prison Museum where our prisoners of war were held. A truly impactful way of how to portray the horrors of war. Lots of personal accounts The bot recounts the experience of prisoners... Very smart, it's not new and they've had this for about 10 years or so. This day has been with me since I got home and read more about it. I felt it was a sign of respect to visit and you can always find out more of such a place. The staff were very helpful, we had the place for ourselves that was special.
While vacationing in Singapore, I visited the Changi Church and Museum. My grandfather was a prisoner of war in Changi from the fall of Singapore until liberation. I wanted to get here for some time but in the last few visits to Singapore the museum was renovated. So glad I took the time to visit. I found some information about my grandfather and the guides there advised her to email any additional information to the curators so they can update it. I hope that the information I have emailed to the Valuers will be used to update the information about my grandfather. I chased our tickets online but could have easily appeared that day. We toured through the bot which was an interesting way to tell the story of Changi.

Visit Changi Chapel Museum

Changi Chapel Museum commemorates the experiences of prisoners of war during World War II. It houses replicas of the original chapel built by Allied prisoners of war in Changi Prison. The museum showcases artifacts, photographs and personal stories that provide insight into the hardships endured during the war. Today, it serves as a poignant reminder of resilience and sacrifice and has a chapel to honor the memory of those who suffered.

Changi Chapel and Museum
The Changi camp was a collection of a few camps that were home to civilians, soldiers, and volunteers during World War Two. Of the site, which spanned approximately 25 square kilometres, only a few barracks buildings remain today, while the entrance gate and wall of the original Changi Gaol can still be seen. The chapel that greets visitors as they enter the museum is a replica of St George’s Church, which was one of the chapels and places of worship that were built in Changi.

I arrived at the Changi Chapel museum too late for a local guide, but to my surprise, they offered an innovative alternative – a robot guide. The robot took us on an incredible journey through the museum's exhibits, narrating a gripping perspective from a POW's point of view. The immersive experience felt like a captivating walk through history, and the narrative was exceptionally descriptive. I highly recommend this museum, especially for families, as it offers a unique and educational experience that truly brings the past to life.

#singaporetrip This was a really special memorial to visit. Interesting and informative displays and the chapel itself is serene. We took the robot guided tour which was great and took 45 minutes. Staff are friendly engaged and informative. We took a Grab to get to and from the Memorial which worked well. This place is really something you should visit, if you are interested in Singapore's past about Prisoner Of Wars (POW). Its a small area to explore, but loads of interactive and readings inside. Go if you are interested more of how our prisoners were like in the past.

The museum charts the invasion of Singapore by the Japanese and the set up of the POW camp and prison. The conditions were awful and as we know history documents how abusive and cruel the Japanese were but the story also tells us of the amazing spirit of the British, Australian, Indian & Chinese who were held in these awful conditions including women and children.
Interesting readings on the walls and some interesting artefacts, especially the quilts made by the women prisoners of war. The museum is about 20/25 minute drive from the City depending where in the City you are staying but so worth the effort. There is also a very nice bar/restaurant right next door which I recommend.
