Visiting the Hualien Changchun Shrine
#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025
The Changchun Shrine in Hualien is a tourist attraction that combines natural landscape with cultural history. I was deeply impressed after visiting it. This ancestral hall is located in Taroko National Park and is built on the mountain. A waterfall flows down from the back of the ancestral hall, forming a magnificent picture that makes people marvel at the wonders of nature.
The Changchun Shrine was built to commemorate the engineers who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. Standing in front of the shrine and looking at the stone tablet engraved with the list of martyrs, I felt the hardship and greatness of building this dangerous mountain road. Walking along the trail towards the ancestral hall, you can hear the gurgling stream and feel the breeze. This tranquil atmosphere is refreshing and also brings a sense of awe for history.
In addition to the ancestral hall itself, the surrounding scenery is equally stunning. Standing in front of the Changchun Shrine, you can overlook the magnificent canyon and feel the majesty of Taroko's nature. While walking on the trail, you will often meet tourists stopping to take pictures or quietly appreciate the beautiful scenery. It makes people slow down and feel the beauty of this land.
This visit to the Eternal Spring Shrine not only allowed me to appreciate Hualien’s magnificent natural scenery, but also made me full of respect for the engineers who gave their lives for transportation construction. This is not only a tourist attraction, but also a place where people should stop and savor the beauty of the interweaving of history and nature.
