#Chaka Salt Lake Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Salt Lake
Caka Salt Lake, situated in Qinghai, China, is a natural wonder renowned for its ethereal beauty. Spanning over 100 square kilometers, it's one of the largest saltwater lakes in the region. What sets Caka apart is its striking pink hue during certain seasons, attributed to the presence of microorganisms and high salinity. The lake's landscape is surreal, with vast salt flats extending to the horizon, forming mesmerizing hexagonal patterns.
Caka Salt Lake is also ecologically significant, providing habitat for migratory birds and supporting unique flora and fauna adapted to extreme salinity. Tourists are drawn not only to its surreal landscapes but also to the cultural richness of the Tibetan and Mongolian communities in the surrounding areas, making Caka Salt Lake a destination of natural and cultural intrigue.

A Fairy lake surrounded by snowy mountains
Chaka Salt lake is a naturally crystallized saline lake surrounded by snow capped mountains in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China. It is located at an altitude of approx 3000m about 300km from Xining.
The combination of the white lake with reflection of the sky in the water, the distant snowy mountain range, the fresh wind makes it a magical place.
I went there in May. It snowed in the evening the day I reached Chaka town while the prediction was 6-12 deg. I carried a puffer jacket for just in case and that saved my life 😄. So, take your jackets no matter which time of the year you decide to visit 🤭
Chaka salt lake - winter landscape in summer
We spent about a week in Qinghai, mostly at Qinghai lake as we visited local horse racing there. I liked Chaka lake better than Qinghai lake (as I still don't understand why Qinghai lake entry tickets are so overpriced)
We came to Chaka in the evening by bus from Qinghai lake and stayed in a hotel.
In the early morning I walked about 3-4km to the Scenic area witnessing wildlife such as hares and ducks.
At the entrance I requested information in English and there was an English speaking employee to give details which were quite helpful.
The path in the area is about 5km long, there are some cafés at the beginning and special shoes and fancy dresses rental somewhere in the middle.
Visiting Chaka was one of the highlights of this summer!
There are 2 Scenic areas, I've been to one only (should have visited both)
It's not easy to find a taxi in the area, so the English speaking employee helped to arrange it in the evening

Surrounded by SALT
Chaka Lake is a must to visit. We took a bus and a slow train to the lake . People use to walk all the way to the lake in the past. Glad we don’t have too. It is known as “Mirror of the Sky in China”. “Chaka” means “Salt Lake” in Tibetan. As the name, Chaka Lake is a famous natural crystal salt lake in Qaidam Basin, able to meet all Chinese’s need to salt for 75 years. The lake reflects wonderful images , but it depends on where and how you take your pictures. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to caption the reflection from the lake. However, we had a great time.
Chaka Salt Lake
Getting There - You can drive yourself, get a taxi or go with a tour group. You drive for kilometers on end mext to the big salt lake. We went a tour group so we had a bus that took us to the scenic area. It's pretty easy to locate when you are in the area.
Attractions - The whole Chaka Salt lake are breathtaking! Just spectacular! You can take the train to the middle of the lake, there you can walk in the lake, do a photoshoot, eat a salty ice-cream, just take in the beautiful scenery, you can decide if you want to take the train back to the entrance/exit or you can walk back.
Hotels - There are hotels 5-10 minutes drive from the salt lake.
Food & Restaurants - There are shops to buy food and drinks. There's also a few small restaurants.
Shopping - There are shops to buy....salt😋, souvenirs, food, something to drink and the blue ice-cream that you have to try! It has a salty taste but not overbearing, it's sooo good #silkroad #awesomepic #summervacation #naturalwonders #chakasaltlake
Chaka Salt Lake, the Mirror of the Sky
Chaka Salt Lake aka “Mirror of the Sky” truly lives up to its name 🪞
I wanted to share some shots from this magical place in Xining province which I’ve been sitting on for a while (honestly far too long)
The journey to get here was hectic but boy was it worth it for the view 🤩
Fun fact: The Chinese name of this lake is 茶卡盐湖 or Chá kǎ yánhú. “Chaka” means salt lake in Tibetan while “yanhu” means salt lake in Chinese So this marvel of nature is actually named “Salt Lake Salt Lake” Go figure!
🚫Don’t go on a windy day or you won’t be able to see the mirror effect🚫

Chaka Salt Lake
Getting There - From Xining, there is a train to and from Chaka Lake. Only one train leaving from xining to chaka at 8am. The train returns 5:10pm. (Chaka to Xining). The train is not packed as Chaka is the only stop. (There is one stop before the lake also called Chaka, but it is for people that work in the are.) The train takes about 4:20 minutes.
Attractions - Chaka salt lake
Hotels - a day trip is more than enough
Entrance fee: 80 yuan (Does not include train. The walk to the lake is much more quiet than the train and short.)
Food & Restaurants - Dicos, Huizu cuisine, lots of beef noodles,
Shopping - I mailed a postcard abroad. Some souvenir shops.
Chaka lake was one of the better tourist experiences as a foreigner living in China. Very easy to get to from Xining, few people on the train. The staff on the train and park entrance did not make a big deal about encountering a foreigner. If you have traveled by train as a foreigner being in China during covid you will be surprised how smoothly it was to get on the train and into the park.
For the train you will need the health code with green arrow, stamp showing when you entered China, phone number, vaccine record (phone one with health code is ok). Highly recommended as an easy day trip with not too much walking. Use the bathroom in the information/ticket office.

Summer adventure
Qinghai in China is a great option for summer as the weather is milder due to higher altitude. Especially Chaka Salt Lake is worth to experience when you are looking for a more extraordinary adventure. You fly in to Xining and take a car from there for around 4hrs❣

Chaka Salt Lake is a natural, crystallised saline lake in Qinghai Province. It’s a vast and expansive landscape, with salt lake sections stretching as far as the eye can see - it’s said to be the largest salt mine in the world!
There’s nothing like the feeling of salt between your toes...but this section of the Chaka Salt Lake was a little more painful than the others. The further you walk, the bigger (and sharper...) the pieces got.
But, you won’t be able to stop taking pictures while here because it truly is beautiful! Can you capture the famous mirror-like photos?

It is the largest salt marsh in the world. The Uyuni salt marsh in Bolivia is the largest salt marsh in the world. The scenery and peaceful surroundings make it a dream place for many travel enthusiasts. Tea card, praised by the donkey friends as the sky of China, compared to Bolivia, the beauty here is more intoxicating green. It's still a quiet place that is rarely touched. As quiet as a virgin, stands quietly on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau like a city in the sky. Entering the tea card, your heart will be much quieter.

The beauty of the tea card is stronger than the memory. Whether it is the first few times, it is full of excitement and ecstasy. At the moment of arrival, I still feel that everything is worth it.

But when I go back, my horse! People crowded into the sea!

Qinghai-Tibet Grand Loop: Chaka Salt Lake Guide Revealing the Pitfalls and Details
✨✨
😱⚠ An absolute must-see guide to Chaka Salt Lake, some little secrets you have to know! Did you know? Salt sticks to your pants and can't be wiped off with water, only washed! And watch out for those ubiquitous sinkholes, some are bottomless! Don't forget to apply sunscreen☀, the temperature may not seem high, but that's a low-temperature burn, and you might peel a layer of skin when you get home🌚. When the wind is strong, it can even blow your hat away, so be sure to wear a hat and tie it down🕵🏻♀. However, Chaka Salt Lake is really beautiful, no matter how you take photos!
🚂 Adventure: Chaka Salt Lake Train Journey! Tiring but worth it!🚂
Chaka Salt Lake has two attractions, No.1 is Mirror of the Sky, and No.2 is Sky No.1. The main difference is that No.1 is larger, while No.2 lacks an observation deck and salt sculptures, I personally recommend Mirror of the Sky. Come and experience the magical Mirror of the Sky!
⭕ The most accurate surface weather forecast! The weather at Chaka Salt Lake is unpredictable, so to see the lake's reflection, the necessary conditions are clear skies + no wind. Remember that!
📌 Travel Tips: First navigate to 'Chaka Salt Lake Tourist Distribution Center'!
Park at the distribution center → Take the shuttle bus to the entrance of the scenic area → Take the train all the way to the end → Get off at each station on the way back to play
(The train is particularly slow, it takes about half an hour to get in) This way you can fully enjoy Chaka Salt Lake!
⭕ Dining/Toilet Reminder:
There are many snack bars at the distribution center, but the serving speed is really slow, surprisingly slow! It's advisable to bring your own food to save time. The toilets at the distribution center are okay, clean enough, it's best to take care of it before entering the scenic area.
⭕ Chaka Salt Lake is ready for you to go down to the lake!
You can wear shoe covers to walk down to the lake, but be careful of deep pits. Salt grains will probably splash below your knees, be sure to wash your clothes well when you return (wash them several times, otherwise the clothes will harden).
⭕ Dressing Advice:
If you want to take good photos, wear bright dresses! Remember to bring a coat/shawl in case the weather changes suddenly (when I went, the temperature dropped to only 5 degrees). There are only red shoe covers on site, it's recommended to prepare white ones in advance!
⭕ Essential Equipment List:
Bring mineral water, not only for drinking but also for washing hands and feet after touching salt. Don't forget sunscreen and an umbrella. Also, be sure to wear sunglasses when the sun is out‼
⭕ Cost Tips:
Ticket: 60 yuan per person, half price for students.
Ticket + Train: 168 yuan per person.
Parking fee: 10 yuan.

Chaka Salt Lake, located in Ulan County of Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province, is known as 'China's Mirror of the Sky'. The vast expanse of the lake, especially on clear, windless days, reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and distant mountains like a mirror, as if heaven and earth converge here, blurring the line between sky and ground. Besides strolling on the lake surface and experiencing the sensation of walking among the clouds, the unique salt sculptures around the lake are also a major highlight. These massive artworks shimmer with silver light under the sun, telling ancient and beautiful stories.

• After lunch: Return to Chaka Town, rest for a while, and then start the journey back to Xining or your next destination.
Food Recommendations: The Taste of the Plateau
• Tibetan Yak Meat: Delicious and nutritious, it is a highland delicacy not to be missed.
• Tsampa: Made from barley flour and paired with butter tea, it is the traditional staple food of the Tibetan people, simple yet full of energy.
• Qinghai Yogurt: Rich and creamy with a moderate sweet and sour taste, it is an excellent choice to refresh the palate.
Transportation Tips:
• External Transportation: Xining is the main transfer station to Chaka Salt Lake, with the option of taking a train or long-distance bus. The train is more comfortable and convenient, and the scenery along the way is also very charming.
• Internal Transportation: After arriving in Chaka Town, you can walk or rent a car to the salt lake scenic area, where a small train is available for tourists to ride deep into the heart of the lake.
Chaka Salt Lake is a feast for both the eyes and the soul. Whether traveling alone or with companions, it will leave you with profound and beautiful memories. Embark on this dreamy journey with your pursuit of beauty! And remember, the most beautiful scenery is always on the road.

The most beautiful mirror of the sky - Chaka Salt Lake welcomes everyone to check in
After people return, their hearts stay at Chaka Salt Lake, it's simply too beautiful.
🍒 Chaka Salt Lake is known as China's 'Mirror of the Sky', comparable to Bolivia. What makes Chaka Salt Lake different from other salt lakes is that it is a brine lake with both solid and liquid states. Walking on the lake is like being in the sky, with the lake reflecting the heavens, the earth, and you.
If you're lucky enough, during the day you can see mirages formed on the surface of the lake.
🌈 Chaka Salt Lake has been rated by 'National Geographic Traveler' as 'one of the 55 places to go in a lifetime'. When the sun sets behind the mountains, the afterglow scatters on this white scroll.
🌵 Chaka Salt Lake is located near Chaka Town, Wulan County, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, 292 kilometers from Xining and about 151 kilometers from Qinghai Lake.
🌻 Chaka Salt Lake ticket price: 70 yuan, half price with a student ID;
Scenic area train ticket price: one-way 50 yuan/person;
🍒Tips:
1. The small train at Chaka Salt Lake is a major feature, but it departs at fixed times during the peak season, and the queue time is long, so make sure to manage your time well when visiting.
2. It is recommended to bring waterproof shoe covers or transparent water shoes, as there are pebbles in the water that can easily cut your feet, and it is very painful to sprinkle salt on wounds.
3. There is a large temperature difference between day and night in the salt lake scenic area, and it is especially cold in the morning and evening, so you need to bring a coat to keep warm. The climate is dry and the ultraviolet rays are strong, so be sure to bring sunscreen, especially to prevent altitude sickness.
4. If it has been cloudy and rainy for several days, the salt layer in the lake may be diluted and dissolved, revealing the mud underneath, and you will not be able to go down to the lake to play. There are many small black holes in the lake, which are actually traps, so don't step on them, and the darker they are, the more dangerous they are.

The Pearl of the Great Northwest - A Guide to Visiting the Chaka Salt Lake!
🤩There is such a stunning salt lake in the Great Northwest - the dreamy Chaka Salt Lake! It's incredibly beautiful!
😉If you love the scenery of salt lakes, Chaka Salt Lake will definitely not disappoint you!
🌊This vast salt lake, white as snow, is comparable in size to 55 Chaka Salt Lakes, making it the second largest in the world and the largest in China without a doubt!
📍It is located in Chaka Town, Golmud City, Qinghai Province. The opening hours are 8:00-20:00, and the ticket price is 100 yuan per person.
🎈The best time to visit is from June to October every year🤗, when the climate is pleasant, the sun is abundant, and the beautiful scenery is in full view. Especially in autumn, the dried-up lake bed forms a red salt layer, which is spectacular!
🚗For transportation, first get to Xining, then drive or charter a car to Chaka Salt Lake (there is no public transportation). Why not take a trip around the Qinghai-Gansu loop, with plateaus, snow-capped mountains, lakes, yardangs, grasslands, deserts... a colorful landscape like a palette overturned by God!
👀Main attractions include:
🛣The Salt Bridge: A naturally formed salt road, 32km long and 15-18 meters thick, is an excellent place to view the salt lake.
🤩Dream Island: A small island in the center of the lake with pianos, swings, and beautiful salt flowers. The starry sky rooms on the island are a major highlight, where you can enjoy the starry sky and the lake light at night.
👉The Ship of Salt: A symbolic landscape, the boat-shaped salt crystals are like a giant wheel sailing on the salt lake.
📋Notes:
☀The sunlight reflection on the salt lake is strong, so be sure to protect yourself from the sun and your eyes.
🚫Do not step on or damage the salt layer at will, and protect the natural wonder.
🤒Located in a high-altitude area, you may experience altitude sickness, so be sure to rest and hydrate appropriately.

Come to Chaka Salt Lake and find the little train from Spirited Away!
Chaka Salt Lake lies quietly in the Qaidam Basin, which spans over 200,000 square kilometers, nestled between the Qilian Mountain range's Wanyan Tongbu Mountain and the Kunlun Mountain range's Wanggaxiu Mountain. It is a must-visit destination for self-driving tours in the great Northwest!
To capture the beautiful scenery of Chaka Salt Lake in photos📸, you must check the weather. Only on a clear sunny day 🌞 can you capture the color of the sea and sky!
⚠️Special reminder: The salt lake is quite corrosive to shoes, and even with rubber shoe covers, some may still get damaged. If you don't want your precious shoes to become stiff, consider wearing more ordinary shoes when going down to the lake!
➡️Chaka Salt Lake has two scenic areas, one is the Mirror of the Sky, and the other is Sky No.1. It is said that the former is the one people usually visit, while the latter is newly developed and has added some entertainment facilities;
➡️Upon arriving at the scenic area, you first need to register with your real name and take a free shuttle bus to the entrance. After purchasing a ticket, there are three options: one is to take a small train back and forth to the end point (you can get on and off at the stations), the second is to take an electric cart for 800 meters to the square (the starting point of the scenic area), and the third is to walk the entire distance (it is estimated that walking the full round trip is about five or six kilometers, so if you're not physically fit, it's better to just take the train... after all, walking the whole way can be very tiring.
➡️The train has stops where you can get off to take photos. There are scenic area signs, some shaped objects, and old salt extraction facilities where you can also take a boat to look around. The lake's daytime appeal is its mirror-like reflection and transparency... It's best to wear white or light-colored clothes, and most of the rental costumes inside are red;
➡️Shoe covers‼️ are a must-rent, after all, walking on the lake surface is a part of the experience. You can rent and return them at each train stop. The rental fee is ten yuan and the deposit is fifty, which is really not expensive; it is recommended to start renting from the third stop, where there are more shapes;
➡️Sun! It's very sunny! Make all the necessary sun protection preparations; also bring sunglasses, as the white salt can be dazzling;
➡️The management of the scenic area is actually quite good. There are simple foods at the stations, as well as places for oxygen inhalation and first aid, and the ice cream looks good and tastes delicious;
This is Chaka Salt Lake, a realm of the sky!
Our second stop in Qinghai brought us to the famous Chaka Salt Lake. I'm thrilled to have encountered good weather, as this attraction greatly depends on it. The blue sky and white clouds pair wonderfully with white or red clothing for photos. I suggest visiting the 'Spirited Away' filming location by the little train to capture the essence of the sky, where it's less crowded and the scenery is beautiful. Additionally, the salt sculptures are worth seeing, reminiscent of the Harbin Ice and Snow World.
📝Note tips:
The altitude of Chaka Salt Lake is quite high, and the temperature is relatively low, making it easy to experience altitude sickness. I had trouble sleeping, so it's important to be extra cautious.
Is it called 'Mirror of the Sky in China', does the sky of China agree?
💧Often you will see such a set of photos on the Internet: a beautiful girl 💃 draped in a red scarf or wearing a red long dress, barefoot standing in a lake of blue and white interweaving 🌊. The lake surface is as transparent and holy as a mirror, reflecting the beautiful shadow of the girl. The check-in place for this set of photos is the Chaka Salt Lake in Qinghai.
💧'Chaka', in Tibetan means 'salt pool', and in Mongolian it means 'sea of blue salt'. During the formation of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, some seawater accumulated in the low-lying areas and actively became many salt lakes and ponds. Chaka Salt Lake is one of them. The lake surface here is 3100 meters above sea level, 15.8 kilometers long from east to west, and 9.2 kilometers wide from north to south, in an oval shape.
💧According to the introduction: Chaka Salt Lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains 🗻, the calm lake surface is like a mirror, reflecting the beautiful and intoxicating sky scenery, it has been rated by the National Tourism Geographic Magazine as 'one of the 55 places a person must go in his lifetime', and it is even known as the 'Mirror of the Sky in China'. But I want to ask a question based on my personal experience, who gave Chaka Salt Lake this title? Is it the tourists or the experts, or the sky of China? Calling it the 'Mirror of the Sky in China', does the sky of China agree?
💧I came here in September, fantasizing about standing on the 'Mirror of the Sky' lake surface, taking a few memorable photos, what a comfortable thing it would be. However, when I took a bus for several hours, then took a small train 🚂, put on heavy boots and came to the heart of the lake, came to this so-called 'Mirror of the Sky', I asked myself: Is this muddy salt alkali beach in front of me the 'Mirror of the Sky'? Did I come at the wrong time? Isn't September the best season to come here? Is the weather wrong, it's a sunny afternoon 🔆!
💧The reality gave me the answer: this is indeed Chaka Salt Lake, but it is far less stunning than imagined, and it is not as beautiful as the photos on the Internet 😝! All there is here is a fairy-tale-like small train 🚂, and a few artificial salt sculptures along the way, and tourists who are taking photos in the lake like dumplings 👨👨👧👧. Chaka Salt Lake, let alone a mirror, it can't even be called 'clean', let alone 'clear'.
💧The photos on the Internet can only be appreciated. In reality, the so-called Internet celebrity check-in places sometimes really make people feel regret and regret. On such a sunny day, the scenery is so 1⃣, if it's a cloudy day, I guess the scenery can't even be 2⃣.
💧After returning from Qinghai, I learned that the so-called 'Mirror of the Sky' effect requires the joint action of light 🌈, water surface 🌊, and salt 🌫 crystals, and it won't work if one is missing. Therefore, the best time for the three to be one is probably after a heavy rain ☔️, when the weather suddenly clears up 🔅, that may be the most beautiful moment of Chaka Salt Lake, the real mirror of the sky.
💧I also learned that in Qinghai, there are actually many lakes with beautiful scenery, such as Chaerhan Salt Lake, Mangya Emerald Lake, Dachaidan Emerald Lake, Xitaijinoer Lake, etc. And Chaka Salt Lake belongs to a place where you will regret it if you don't go, and you will regret it even more if you go 🤭.
💧Some netizens commented on Chaka Salt Lake like this: 'As a local, I really can't stand it anymore. A few years ago, Chaka was really a mirror in the sky, now it's a stinky ditch, all polluted and destroyed.' Chaka Salt Lake, perhaps once a beautiful place, but now it is not as beautiful as the Internet says, let alone as stunning as the 'Mirror of the Sky', at most it can be considered a Internet celebrity check-in lake 🌊.
💧Leaving aside the lake itself, if you come here to see the small train 🚂, appreciate the salt sculptures, understand the crystal clear, pure quality of blue salt production process and scene, it is also worth it. But expecting to be able to take those filter big shots on the Internet here is a bit unrealistic. As for being called 'Mirror of the Sky in China', not only the sky of China will not agree, but also many of us ordinary tourists, I guess many people will not agree 😊🚫.
📍Tips:
💦Address: Chaka Salt Lake is located in Chaka Town, Ulan County, Haixi Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai, about 300 kilometers from Xining.

💦Opening hours: peak season (May to October) 7:00-20:00, off-season (November to next April) 7:30-19:00.
💦Title: National 4⃣A Scenic Area, China's first green edible salt production base.

Chaka Salt Lake
The Chaka Salt Lake on a cloudy day also has its unique beauty
Initially when we arrived at Chaka Salt Lake, the weather was gloomy, and we felt a bit down. But don't be discouraged, cloudy days have their own sense of sophistication: smoky purple, protein green, and gray-blue are all sophisticated colors!
We drove from Qinghai Lake. The road was just an ordinary highway. It was okay to drive in the morning and it took about two hours.
We went to the old scenic area, directly navigated to Chaka Salt Lake. Because we thought the small train was interesting, we bought tickets for the small train. Actually, you don't need to buy tickets for the battery car. If you want to walk, I think it's okay. The small train takes about half an hour from the starting station to the terminal station. It's not so cold if you sit in a covered one.
About taking pictures, in fact, it's enough to take pictures at the terminal station. Remember to take pictures with the small train, railway tracks, and small boats.
Finally, you can also buy the ice cream of Chaka Salt Lake for taking pictures. This makes it perfect~

📌Chaka Salt Lake (Sky No.1)
Chaka Salt Lake is divided into Sky No.1 and Mirror of the Sky scenic spots!
📌Zhuoer Mountain
Climbing at high altitudes is really tiring!
📌Colorful Danxia
What the human eye sees is absolutely the most real. You need to feel the Colorful Danxia scenic spot in the noisy crowd, the masterpiece of nature.
Scenic spots are everywhere in the northwest, here is a 5-day and 4-night tour guide for Qinghai and Gansu
Fly from Shanghai to Xining, rest for a night, and start the tour to Qinghai Lake the next morning.
Day1, Qinghai Lake ➡️ Chaka Salt Lake
The driver picked us up at 8 a.m., the first stop was Qinghai Lake. The lake is very beautiful from a distance, like a blue silk ribbon, and it is a layered blue with different depths. Heima River Scenic Area can reach the lakeside, personally think that it is more moving from a distance. Arrived at Chaka Salt Lake in the afternoon, it was drizzling when we just entered the scenic area, and then it cleared up. The mirror of the sky is indeed well-deserved, and the mountains and clouds in the distance can see very clear reflections.
Day2, Chaerhan Salt Lake, Water Yadan, 315U-shaped highway
Today's itinerary is quite a lot, and we set off at 6 a.m. Chaerhan Salt Lake, the water is very green without adding a filter, like flowing green jelly. Water Yadan is very beautiful, but unfortunately the weather is average, and its beauty is not photographed. U-shaped highway, I don't understand why it has become a tourist attraction. Many people sit in the middle of the road to take pictures. The truck is honking from a distance. It's so dangerous. On the way back, we passed by Xiaochaidan, the water is very clear and there are many seagulls.
Day3, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring
Originally, there was a trip to Jade Lake today, but the master said that there is no need to go to Jade Lake after going to Chaerhan Salt Lake. It's very small, just a few water pits, so we cancelled this point and went directly to Mingsha Mountain. This is the first time I have seen a desert, and I am still very excited! With the help of the ladder, Mingsha Mountain is easy to climb, but the highest sand dune does not have a ladder, and you can either climb or ride an off-road vehicle. Watched a sunset at 8 o'clock on the mountain, and there were staff playing music with speakers at night, everyone was singing with flashlights, it was very atmospheric, and it was one of the top 3 of my trip. ps: The ticket for Mingsha Mountain can be used for three days.
Day4, Mogao Grottoes, Rainbow Danxia
I bought the earliest emergency ticket for Mogao Grottoes in advance, and watched four grottoes, a bit unfinished. Unfortunately, there is not enough time. If there is a chance, I can come to Dunhuang for a deep tour and feel the thousand-year history of Mogao Grottoes. After watching the grottoes, drove 600 kilometers to Rainbow Danxia, and encountered a small tornado on the way. There are 4 stations in the Danxia Scenic Area. There is no need to get off at the first station. The scenery of 2, 3, and 4 is good, especially the 4th station, there are many people, and there are hot air balloons.
Day5, Qilian Prairie, Menyuan Rapeseed Flower
This season is not the most beautiful time of the prairie, but I experienced horse riding! Fun. The rapeseed flowers have basically withered, and the tour of Qinghai and Gansu is basically over. Later, I stayed in Xining for two more days to rest, visited the Tibetan Culture Museum, and then returned home! In summary, the body is suffering, the eyes are enjoying, it's worth the trip!
Can I still come to Qinghai for tourism in autumn? Qinghai-Gansu grand loop tour
Recently, there are more friends asking about the scenery and temperature of Qinghai tourism. Today, I will focus on the following points:
1. It's not cold in Qinghai in autumn. You can wear autumn clothes during the day and a thick coat in the morning and evening. You can rush to it recently;
2. In terms of scenery, except for the grass changing color, there is basically no impact. And the autumn scenery is also very good;
3. The route is still the Qinghai-Gansu grand loop, which crosses many scenic spots and has a rich itinerary;
4. By the way, Gansu is now in the cool autumn, and the temperature is very comfortable;
What about the temperature and clothing preparation for traveling to Qinghai and Gansu in September or National Day?
1. In Qinghai in September, the temperature is cool in the morning and evening, and there may even be occasional snow, so a winter coat is necessary. But the daytime temperature is over 10 degrees, and autumn clothes can also be worn;
2. The scenic spots in Gansu, such as Dunhuang and Zhangye, have a very comfortable temperature. Autumn clothes are mainly worn, and summer clothes can also be worn during the day;
Which places in the northwest are worth going in autumn?
1. Qinghai Lake & Chaka Salt Lake
2. Emerald Lake
3. Zhangye Danxia
4. Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain + Mogao Grottoes
5. Jinta Populus Euphratica Forest
