The Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Orleans is a famous Gothic cathedral in France. It was built in 1287 and officially opened on May 8, 1829. It has a rich history: Joan of Arc prayed there, Henry IV began rebuilding in 1601, and Louis XIV funded the populace who paid homage to him by displaying his motto and the sun. From the 13th to the 19th centuries, the Basilica of Santa Croce in Orleans bears the imprint of various royal inheritances, especially the elegance of classicism, giving it an architectural and artistic originality. The choir's magnificent carved woodwork, the stained glass windows that tell the story of Joan of Arc, and the headboards of 11 palatial 13th-century chapels are its "treasures".
