Your admissions ticket includes a tour with a guide. The tour last about 45 minutes. During your tour you will learn about the terrors that took place in the castle’s dungeons. This is where slaves were forced to stay while waiting to be shipped out. May we learn from history so that it will never repeat itself. Getting There - 175 km from Accra, Ghana. The drive is about 3 hours and 40 minutes. The ride has beautiful views but the roads have potholes so you need to be careful. Attractions - The main attraction at this national park is the 350m long Canopy walkway. You have the option to take a shorter canopy if you can’t handle the 350meters on the wobbly canopy. The cost for foreigners is 100 Cedis and 35 cedis for Ghanaian locals. You can also go bird watching or just hike the trails. Hotels - There are tree houses you can stay in at Kukum National Forrest for about 200 cedis a night. This is a great way to explore the forest at night, when more animals are active and there’s a higher chance of you seeing the wildlife. Food & Restaurants - There’s a restaurant at the main entrance of the park that offers affordable local and foreign food. The Cape Coast Castle is one of the most historic places to visit in Ghana or even Africa. Learnt a lot about the trans-Atlantic slave trade from this visit. It was quite an emotional experience for me. Although I forgot to take a picture, the view of the Atlantic ocean from this site is absolutely fantastic. Hello! I have had such an amazing time here in Ghana’ people have been so nice, cool and collected! There are quite a few things to do, but a lot of them require travel time because nothings really around depending on where your staying. The roads are quite bumpy due to the dirt roads. If you’re driving yourself you really have to pay attention. I would recommend getting a driver. A must see while you’re there is Cape Coast castle. Here are some pictures of that area. On the castle, you have both the bustling city view and the beach view with a rugged coastline. The beach is quite popular. After chilling on the beach, make sure you visit Elmina Castle. It is a good place to learn about the dark history of Transatlantic slave trade and to listen to their stories. There is a lot of history around the area and provides good opportunities for souvenir shoppings and beach or ocean photography!
