#familytime Our family vacation to Cefalù was absolutely incredible! Nestled on the northern coast of Sicily, this charming seaside town offered a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. We started our trip by visiting the stunning Cefalù Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site with no entrance fee. The breathtaking mosaics and Norman architecture made it a highlight of our trip. Of course, we spent plenty of time at the beach, which is perfect for families. The crystal-clear waters and soft sandy shore were a hit with the kids. One afternoon, we climbed La Rocca, the hill overlooking the town. It was a bit of a hike (entrance around €4), but the panoramic views at the top were worth it! We could see the entire town, the sea, and the surrounding mountains. Cefalù also has some great family-friendly restaurants. We enjoyed the fresh seafood and, of course, plenty of gelato for the kids. Cefalu has about six beaches but the most famous and probably even the most beautiful beach in Cafalu is the one next to the marina, just below the typical houses overlooking the sea. It is a fine golden sand crescent beach. This is certainly the most suggestive and panoramic and the water is calm and clear. Getting There - There is a train from palermo departing nearly every hour and it takes only an hour to get there. Attractions - The beautiful beaches. On our visit, it was closed for a private wedding, though the official website showed normal operations. To be safe, call ahead to confirm opening status. If available, staying overnight is highly recommended. ♣️ Cefalù 🚄 Transport: 50-minute train from Palermo, with the station within walking distance to the town center. 🎐 Highly recommended spots: 🔹 La Rocca The scenic hike up from mid-slope offers panoramic views of both the sea and the entire town. Entrance fee: €5/person. 🔹 Porta Pescara The famous filming location from "Cinema Paradiso." 🔹 Cefalù Village A charming, old-fashioned southern Italian fishing village perfect for aimless wandering. 🔹 Cefalù Beach Golden sands and crystal-clear waters ideal for sunbathing or swimming. 🔹 Sunset at the Coastline The main street is lined with shops and restaurants. Three days and two nights of romance and adventure in Sicily Starting point Catania Airport The sky over Catania was dyed light pink in the morning, and Mount Etna in the distance was still emitting mist. Starting from this vibrant city, Day 1 — Love begins in the city of the sea, drive along the winding coastal road to the dreamy town hanging on the cliff - Taormina. In the ancient Greek theater, on the stands, in front of you is the boundless Ionian Sea, so blue that it breaks your heart. The alleys of the town are filled with the aroma of lemon and coffee. As you walk, you will find small art galleries, old bookstores and handmade ice cream shops hidden in the corners. In the afternoon, the sun began to become lazy, and after the hot springs we continued north to Messina. This is the gateway to Sicily and the closest point to the Italian mainland. At dusk, I watched the ferry slowly leaving the harbor. The golden sunset sprinkled on the sea, like a layer of honey. At night, we ordered local swordfish and white wine at a restaurant by the harbor. The sea breeze tasted a bit salty and a bit sweet. Day 2 — Chasing light along the North Shore! The next morning, we sailed west along the north coast to Cefalù, known as the most beautiful seaside town in Sicily. This is a town that makes you want to slow down, with narrow alleys, cobblestone roads, and colorful clothes drying on the balconies. We walked up the bell tower of Cefalù Cathedral and overlooked the blue Mediterranean Sea from above. Arrive in Palermo in the afternoon. This city is more bustling and more vibrant than I imagined. The sounds of hawking could be heard in the market. I ate some fried rice balls (Arancino) from a roadside stall and walked into the Palermo Cathedral, which was shining with golden mosaics. It was like walking into another time and space. At night, Palermo becomes mysterious and charming. Jazz music floats in the old town, and strangers talk about their dreams in the tavern. This night seemed to have merged into the soul of this city. Day 3 — Over the hills, back to the starting point of the dream. On the last day, we abandoned the coastal route and chose to cross the inland of Sicily. Driving to Enna, this ancient city standing on a high hill is like a fortress in the sky. Standing on the high walls of Castello Castle, you can see the hills of Sicily rising and falling like waves of the earth. This is a suitable place to settle down and say goodbye. In the afternoon, we drove slowly back to Catania Airport along the winding mountain road along the highway. Looking back on these three days, it is like a condensed dream, with the embrace of the sea, the tenderness of the mountains, and the passion of the city. #thingstodo The Club Med experience in Cefalù was lovely, great weather, food, and atmosphere, and something for the whole family to enjoy. The sport classes were excellent too and included stretch, yoga, body pump and circuits. The instructor (Hugo) was very knowledgeable and made all the classes fun and accessible for all abilities. The rooms were spacious and the balcony was a great space to relax and the weather was still lovely in October, not too hot or cold, would definitely come back! Congratulations to the entire GO team, even if Youssef was absent during our stay. The team is very close-knit and Luca has really come into his own as interim Village Manager. The GO team has made great progress since our first stay in June. I'd particularly like to mention the great activities offered by Antoine in pedestrian sports, the friendly team at the nautical base and all the restaurant staff. Filippo has always offered us friendly, high-quality service. With such a committed team, we look forward to returning to Cefalu. Thank you for making our vacations so beautiful. Tip: Villetta is a great option Nice and vers stylish club with lots of sport oportunities. Tennis Team was super nice and friendly, playing with us together every day in tournaments. The place at the beach with bar and restaurant is tremendous! You dont need more... One Question I never found the answer to: Why all waiters in the restaurant are so keen on stealing your plate even if you are not really finished eating? Stressed me out sometimes.. ;)

Cathedral of Cefalù (Duomo di Cefalù) is a famous tourist attraction in Cefalu. We went there at golden hour, it was so beautiful! There were lots of restaurants and cafés in the square just in front of the cathedral. Just need to remember that the church will close from 1pm to 3pm. There are free guide tours in the cathedral or you can scan the qr code to see all the itinerary.
