Explore Cangzhou Lion City Park | Experience the Charm of Lion City
Stepping into Lion City Park is like entering a dreamy green world. The park is about 600 meters long from north to south and about 300 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 251 mu (about 41 acres). It boasts 72 plant varieties, including golden ginkgoes, verdant spruces, and elegant white-bark pines. Precious trees and shrubs are scattered throughout the park, creating a beautiful scene of "flowers in three seasons and evergreen all year round," whether you're strolling along the paths or standing in the square.
The most striking feature of Lion City Park is the recast Cangzhou Iron Lion. Cangzhou is known as "Lion City," a name inextricably linked to the Iron Lion. The original Iron Lion, cast in the third year of Guangshun's reign during the Later Zhou Dynasty (953 AD), was damaged by the passage of time. In 2009, the Cangzhou Municipal Government decided to recast the Iron Lion. The new Iron Lion, cast in a single pour, is about 8.5 meters long, 4.18 meters wide, and 6.9 meters high. The missing tail and chin have been restored, and it weighs about 120 tons, with a volume 1.32 times that of the original and a designed "lifespan" of 2,000 years. On March 25, 2011, the new Iron Lion was transported from Wanjiazhai Village, Hao Village Town, Botou City, and finally settled in Lion City Park. The majestic Iron Lion stands in the center of the park, silently narrating the history and culture of Cangzhou, leaving visitors in awe of the exquisite casting craftsmanship and profound cultural heritage.
In addition to its natural scenery and iconic architecture, Lion City Park also offers a wealth of cultural facilities. The International Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an area of 271 mu (about 45 acres) with a total construction area of 66,000 square meters, is an important venue for showcasing Cangzhou's image and hosting various events. It has hosted many large-scale exhibitions, such as the Cangzhou Auto Show and the Cangzhou Steel Pipe Exhibition, and is also where the municipal government holds important meetings.
In Lion City Park, you can choose to take a leisurely stroll in the early morning or evening. Feel the gentle breeze on your face as you admire the lush greenery and the Iron Lion in the distance, experiencing the tranquility and beauty of the city. If you happen to visit during a holiday, you might even encounter various cultural performances or community activities, truly immersing yourself in the local life of Cangzhou.
