Great experience not far from the Dali Ancient Town. Why not to start from all-you-can-eat vegetarian lunch in a Buddhist nunnery? It’s a short hike away and food is cheap and very tasty! Small tip: it gets very busy at weekends! After lunch head to the cable car; the ride takes no more than 20 minutes. When you get there enjoy the view of nearby Qingbi Stream. Mt. Cangshan Gorge view from the nearby platform is also very picturesque. Then you have few options… hike or take the cable car down, or hike 4.5 km towards the next (Ximatan) cable way mid station. Dali is a small city, but it has so many surprises in store for it's visitors. Cangshan Mountain is one of them. It has lush forests, with chrystal clear streams running down. The water has the freshest blue color, and all i wanted to do, was take a dip. Unfortunately, it isn't allowed. 🥲 There is also a lake at the top of the mountain, which can be reached via one of the 2 cable cars. (the 2 cable cars take you to 2 different scenic spots) The cable cars can easily be located on any Chinese map, and the ticket prices are very reasonable. It is a lovely place to visit in the summer, as the temperatures are very pleasant. Mount Cangshan streches for 50km from north to south and has a total of 19 peaks in a line, and 18 steams. One of the 4 top scenery spots in Dali too. I went there because it's said to be one of th there was snow on the mountain top. But I didn't do my homework well, and went directly from the hiking spot. The view was amazing, and a little bit wild. After 2 hours later, I got to know it's blocked to hike up the peak, so if you want to go to the mountain top for the snow, taking a cable is a must. Then I turned to YudaiLu trail. It's stunning too. Just finished my 1-week trip in Yunnan, China. And my first stop is Dali !! I didn’t spend much time in Dali, only 1 day trip. But I would recommend some interesting places I went to. Because I was traveling alone, it would be time&money consuming for me to rent a car or take a bus to different places. So I joined a 4-people tour group. Travel time: 1 day Cost: ¥156 4-people tour group Pic 1: Cang Mountain (苍山). Due to the weather condition, they stopped the cable that day. So I didn’t have chance to go. Cang mountain is located just next to Erhai (洱海), combined with 19 peaks. Would be nice to hike there! Pic 2-3: Er Lake (洱海) Dali city is built around the Er Lake. This house is absolutely gorgeous🏠 Daji Hotel, Dali It's so beautiful in Dali, staying in a hotel where you can see the sunlit Cangshan Mountain. Daji Hotel, Dali (It's also the same hotel featured in the variety show "Go Now." The staff told us we were staying in the same room as the celebrities.) We stayed in Room 01. Before checking in, we made sure to ask if the room had a view of Cangshan Mountain. There was still snow on the mountain during our stay, so we woke up early to watch the sunrise and were treated to a breathtaking view of the sunlit peaks. Similar to most guesthouses and hotels in Yunnan, the hotel itself isn't very large, but the scenery around the pool outside the restaurant is truly amazing. On a clear day, the golden mountain reflects in the water, creating a stunning image. Walking along the water's edge towards the fields, you'll find wheat fields and peach blossoms. There are plenty of picturesque spots for taking photos throughout the area. Most importantly, the hotel's decor and service are both excellent. Before arrival, they'll ask about your preferred aromatherapy scent and have it lit for you. The breakfast is also exceptionally generous, and the restaurant service is top-notch. We've often complained about Dali hotels being expensive but lacking in service, but Daji is one of the few hotels we've found with truly attentive service, especially at breakfast. The food is delicious, and both the Chinese and Western options are of high quality. The hotel is closest to S Bay, and you can also visit Tianye Cafe for photos. The only downside is the high price, but compared to the exorbitant hotels along the Erhai Lake, the quality of service here is truly unparalleled.
