I went to the main store of Froindlieb. It's a bakery and cafe that was renovated from a church. The second floor is a very nice cafe space that was renovated from a chapel. The photo shows an open sandwich and a clubhouse sandwich with chicken, bacon, and eggs. I went to the main store of Cafe Froindlieb in Kobe❗️ This long-established bakery has been in business since the Taisho era, and is located on the site of a church designed by the famous architect W.M. Vories. ⛪️ Freundlieb Main Store Founded in 1924, this cafe is a renovated church that is a registered cultural property, and you can spend time in a solemn space that gives off a sense of nostalgia and newness. The building is a renovated church hall from the former Kobe Union Church. Up on the second floor, you will find a church-like space with a high ceiling over 10 meters, hanging chandeliers, and pure white walls. Natural light pours in from the stained glass on the side, creating a great atmosphere. The interior is Western-style, retro, and too cute. I stopped by for breakfast before going to the Kobe Ijinkan, and it was a very popular cafe from the morning. It's about a 15 minute walk from Sannomiya station and is on the way to the Kitano area, making it a good place to get some sandwiches for lunch if you're on the way up. It's quite well known amongst Japanese so there can be quite a wait with people lining up along the staircase up to the main eating area. If you're in a rush, you can just go into the takeout area. They will ship it to your hotel as well, even if you'll be in another city in the country. By Japanese standards, nice casual dining in an exotic setting. Mostly younger women and matrons out for lunch or afternoon tea. Quality food presented informally. A popular Kobe bakery that will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary 🥖 [Freundlieb] 🥐 We had lunch at a lovely cafe that was renovated from a church ☕️⛪️ The cafe is on the second floor, up the stairs. After taking a number, you wait until you are called. We went around 11am, and there were two groups ahead of us in line. When we were called inside, we were amazed by the beautiful view 😍. Stained glass and chandeliers ✨ I had lunch at Rikkyo University's cafeteria when my child was visiting a university, and the atmosphere was just like this ⛪️ It was lovely ☺️ The sandwiches were amazing 😆🥪✨ Everything was delicious, from the garnishes to the side dishes 🥺✨ There is a shop on the first floor.
