Weekend Wander: A Journey Through Bukit Timah’s Scenic Rail Corridor
#favouriteitinerary One of our absolute favorite ways to spend a weekend is by exploring the Rail Corridor at Bukit Timah. It’s the perfect blend of nature, history, and a bit of adventure, all rolled into one. The moment we step onto the old railway tracks, we’re immersed in a world of lush greenery, with every corner offering something new and scenic to take in. One spot we never get tired of is the iconic Upper Bukit Timah Truss Bridge. The panoramic view there is simply stunning, and it’s one of those places where we can’t resist snapping a few photos.
We also love visiting the Bukit Timah Railway Station, which has been thoughtfully restored. It’s such a cool place to pause and learn about the area’s rich history. The stories of how this old railway station once connected Singapore to Malaysia really bring the place to life. After our walk, we often head over to the 1932 Story Café. Nestled in the heritage Railway Staff Quarters, the café has this charming, vintage feel. Their Charred Seafood Laksa Pasta is an absolute favorite, and it’s always the perfect way to unwind after a little outdoor exploration.
Getting to the Rail Corridor is easy since it’s accessible from several entry points like Dairy Farm Nature Park and The Rail Mall. It’s great for a spontaneous outing, but we always check the weather before heading out, since the tropical heat can be a bit much. Even so, the whole experience, from the walk to the views and the food, makes it one of the best ways to spend a weekend. We always leave feeling refreshed and so happy we spent the day there.
