Bruce Lee bronze statue
The Bruce Lee statue is a bronze statue located on the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is two meters tall and weighs 600 kilograms. It was put into use on November 27, 2005, the 65th birthday of Bruce Lee. Its shape is taken from the posture of Bruce Lee in the movie "Enter the Dragon".
History In 2005, the Bruce Lee Club of Hong Kong began planning to erect a bronze statue for Bruce Lee. The bronze statue was sculpted by Guangzhou sculptor Cao Chongen, with Ma Fuqiang and Ruan Dayong serving as art consultants. It took more than eight months to complete. Huang Yaoqiang, chairman of the Hong Kong Bruce Lee Club, said: Initially, three bronze statues of Bruce Lee were made by different people, one based on three of Bruce Lee's classic poses. Finally, the bronze statue made by Cao Chongen was chosen based on the results of netizens' voting. On November 27 of that year, during the "Hong Kong Bruce Lee Festival 2005" event, Bruce Lee's bronze statue was officially unveiled on the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui. Bruce Lee's sister Li Qiuyuan and brother Li Zhenhui personally presided over the ceremony.
In 2015, due to the maintenance work of the Avenue of Stars, the Bruce Lee statue and other bronze statues there were temporarily moved to the Tsim Sha Tsui East Waterfront Terrace Garden. At the end of January 2019, the renovation of the Avenue of Stars on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in Hong Kong was nearing completion, and four landmark bronze statues, including the Bruce Lee sculpture, had been relocated.
