Taking the kids to Guilin during the off-season? We didn't want to leave!
As the saying goes, "Guilin's scenery is the best in the world." Bringing the kids here during the off-season was the perfect choice!
Despite the constant drizzle, it didn't stop us from strolling through this picturesque city.
We admired the mountains and rivers, savored delicious rice noodles, and stayed in a fantastic family room.
Every day was filled with joy, and neither my child nor I wanted to leave the hotel.
🏞 First Impressions of the "City of Mountains and Rivers"
The characteristic southern humidity greeted us as we exited the highway; we could smell it as soon as we opened the car windows.
Guilin on a rainy day, less crowded, more lively.
A large number of motorcycles on the non-motorized vehicle lanes, and old-fashioned buildings and guesthouses.
The unique streetscapes surrounded by the Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Yes, Guilin, I'm here!
A bowl of Guilin rice noodles is a must-try, the soul of Guilin cuisine.
Smooth and chewy rice noodles, paired with marinade, pickled green beans, peanuts, and chopped green onions.
After mixing it all together, each noodle is coated in the flavorful marinade.
Slurp it down, and you'll be instantly satisfied!
A bowl in the morning keeps you energized all day long. I ate it for several days and never got tired of it.
📍 What are the "Two Rivers and Four Lakes"?
Simply put, the Two Rivers and Four Lakes connect the Lijiang River and Taohua River in downtown Guilin with Mulong Lake, Gui Lake, Rong Lake, and Shan Lake, forming a massive ring-shaped water system. It's 7.33 km long and covers an area of 385,900 square meters. The scale is truly impressive! This isn't some modern invention; as early as the Northern Song Dynasty, this area was already bustling with boat traffic. After a series of planning and construction projects, it has become the beautiful landscape we see today.
🏨 Fun Times in the Family Room
After a day of exploring, returning to the hotel's family room was like entering a kid's paradise!
We stayed at the Guilin Lijiang Boya Hotel 🏨, and I have to say, it was amazing.
🌿The room was super cute, with cartoon-themed bedding.
There was a special children's tent ⛺, a rocking horse 🐴, and toy cars 🚗.
As soon as my child entered the room, they dove into the tent and had a blast.
The entire room was huge, with plenty of storage space and a convenient dry and wet separation bathroom.
There's also a dedicated children's playground, a gym, a terrace, and a coffee shop.
Even without leaving the hotel 🏨, we could enjoy our vacation without feeling bored.
🌿The perfect fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine offered a dazzling array of choices.
The Western section had freshly baked croissants 🥐, with flaky crusts that crumbled at the touch.
Paired with a rich cup of coffee ☕, it was the perfect start to an energetic day.
There were also various flavors of yogurt with fresh fruit, healthy and delicious.
The Chinese side was my favorite; a bowl of hot Guilin rice noodles was a must.
The rich and flavorful broth, smooth and chewy noodles, with added pickled green beans and peanuts.
The taste was incredible; I could easily eat three bowls.
🌿The hotel service was also super attentive, and the underground parking garage even had charging stations, which was incredibly convenient.
After a tiring day, we returned to the hotel, turned on the TV, and snuggled in bed with my child to watch cartoons.
These moments of family time are truly precious.
This trip to Guilin with my child not only allowed them to witness the wonders of nature but also strengthened our bond. Exploring new places and facing small challenges together during the journey created precious memories. If you're looking for a relaxing and fun trip with your kids, Guilin is definitely a great choice! Whether it's admiring the scenery or enjoying quality family time, this place has it all.
