[2025 London Attraction] Travel Guide for Borough Market (Updated Feb)

#2024mapped After two trips to London (making all kinda mistakes), here are my few pieces of advice: 1) Transportation - Paying with a contactless card, it’s automatically capped at £8.5/day (which already covered the journey to 99% of the attractions in London) - Night tubes (5 lines) runs whole night on Fri/Sat so people who wanna experience London nightlife without breaking the bank to call Uber can stay close to the related stations. 2) Attraction - for London skyline viewing, there are many free observatory than the Shard (which is crazily expensive, eg. Horizon 22 > Sky Garden > the Garden at 120 / the Post Building > level 10 at Tate Modern - for markets hopping, Borough market has very great cheeses (pay attention to a booth selling 15-month Comte and another selling all sorta liquor-infused cheeses); Leadenhall market has very cool, classical-influenced architecture; Portobello road market is long but rather boring to me, however. - for museum: many great museums in UK are free-entry (much loves), which could be a blissful nuisance because there would be too many to go; prioritize Victoria and Albert Museums and, of course, the British Museum. - to cover most of the London trademarks in the most efficient manner, a stroll along Thames River (in a day or two) would be a good idea to consider—but I’d suggest do it from east to west, coz many building doesn’t look that good against the sunlight. *feel free to ask any questions in the comments*

#markets Always a treat with a plethora of food types. Everything from traditional British to Thai, Lebanese to Italian, Indian to Mediterranean. It's full of alleyways with pubs, shops, food stalls, craft stuff, wine tasting, cheese makers. Easily could spend a day here and not see it all. Sundays are a full market. Scotch eggs and sausages rolls from the ginger pig are top notch as are the salt beef burgers and bagels from nana fannys kitchen stall. 👌 The olive, cider, fishmonger, and cheese selections are also vast and great quality. Borough yards are round the back where more shops, exhibitions and curiosities await. Not for people who don't like crowds. Was so glad that we visited the Borough Market for brunch and thankfully we went early to avoid the peak hour queue. Love the toasties and the pulled pork brioche. Oyster is nice but not that great. Tried the mulled wine which is nice and spicy. Lastly, we went during the Christmas period where there is a stall selling Christmas pudding! That is definitely a must buy! Who else like to shop at food market like me? This is one of the famous food maker at London, it was quite crowded on a Tuesday. The variety of food is good, prices are reasonable. I am sure you can find something you like here! However, some of the places are closed on weekdays, suggest to come on a weekend so that you can try all the things you want :) Bought a bowl of Paella for £10, they are very generous with the seafood! It is tasty too 😋 Colombia coffee was good too, perfect for a cold weather like this. Bon appetite!

It gets very busy so visit outside of lunchtime rush hours to avoid tourists. Ideally located underneath London Bridge train station.

Getting There - nearest train station is Southwark Attractions - food, retail hall This market was established in 1885 and famous for its artisan food and fresh organic products. Come here with an empty stomach as there are many things to try and eat. Do check out the opening date/time. We came here on Saturday morning so most traders come to flaunt their wares. There are a wide variety of food to try and produce to buy as souvenirs. My favourite is the Monmouth Coffee Company. However, it was so crowded by the time we reached. So I get a coffee takeaway and it’s very good. They do sell the roasted beans here if you wish to brew at home.

I would say it is suitable for those who likes seafood as this is one of the places that you can be able to get the freshest seafood with the wholesale price. I went there for the artisan bakery and fresh produce such as Honey, Truffle, Fruits and more. I would say it is commonly open in the early morning and will end at mid-afternoon, 3pm – 4pm timing.
