Bora Bora, located in the Society Islands of French Polynesia, is known as the "Pearl of the Pacific" and is an incredibly beautiful island. Its lagoon, formed by a volcano, is said to possess seven different shades of blue, earning it the nickname "Rainbow of the Ocean." Honeymoon Vacation Here, newlyweds can hold a traditional Tahitian wedding, making it a perfect honeymoon destination. From the overwater bungalows, you can walk directly into the crystal-clear waters. It's like a giant aquarium where you can play with stingrays and see a variety of colorful tropical fish. Central Island A twin-peaked volcano stands in the center of Bora Bora. This long-dormant volcano is now covered in lush green forests. A beautiful turquoise lagoon surrounds the island, separated from the sea by a sandbar. Beyond the sandbar lies a barrier reef, dotted with sandbar islands called "Motu." A Great Diving Spot! The clear, colorful blue lagoon is a well-known diving destination. Diveasy, Bora Diving Center, Topdive Resort Bora Bora, Nemo World, and Blue Nui Dive Centers-Bora Bora are five of the island's larger dive centers, and some hotels and resorts also offer diving services. The waters surrounding the island are warm and calm year-round, nurturing a rich and colorful underwater world; a simple jump from the shore allows you to observe over 500 species of marine life. Boat trips to deeper waters offer views of enormous, colorful corals and large stingrays; from August to the end of October each year is the humpback whale migration season to Bora Bora, and if you're lucky, you might even swim alongside them in the South Pacific. Other attractions Several other must-see spots on the island include Bloody Mary's, renowned as one of the most famous restaurants in the South Pacific; Matila Beach, the island's public beach; and numerous prehistoric maraes scattered throughout the island, each with a unique shape, perfect for taking photos. For a more excursion around the island, you can rent a car, cycle, or join a local island tour or a 4WD jeep tour.
