Unlock the super niche country Ulaanbaatar Citywalk strategy.
Ulaanbaatar, as an important stop on our Mongolian trip, although the time reserved is not long, there are many angles to explore the beauty of this city.
If you want to have a relaxing trip, if you want to unlock a niche destination, then Ulaanbaatar can be the ideal answer.
🚉 Transportation strategy:
There are very few taxis in the city, and there are traffic jams everywhere. If you really want to take a taxi, it is recommended to try to hail a car on the road, but most drivers do not speak English, so you need to use translation software to communicate.
You can also experience the local buses, no matter how far or which route, they are all 1 yuan per trip, but the buses here have a lot of exhaust gas and are not fast.
🗓 Itinerary:
DAY1: Genghis Khan Square - Genghis Khan Museum - Blue Sky Tower - Ulaanbaatar Landmark - Mongolian State Department Store
DAY2: Gandan Monastery - Bogd Khan Winter Palace - Zaisan Monument
❤ Recommended attractions:
1 Sukhbaatar Square
The central square of the capital Ulaanbaatar, the red UB character打卡位 on the opposite side of the road
2 Genghis Khan Museum and National Museum
Just a few minutes' walk behind the square, check the opening hours, different in summer and winter, all need to buy tickets
3 Shangri-La Mall
This is a relatively good mall, with food, drink, shopping and cinemas. Mongolia restaurant on the fourth floor, Mongolian cuisine, even locals recommend
4 National Amusement Park
Behind the Shangri-La Hotel Mall, the park is free to enter, there is a Ferris wheel, play amusement facilities to buy tickets separately
From Sukhbaatar Square to the amusement park, 15 minutes is not far
5 Gandan Monastery
The temple is not big, but the Buddha statues inside are very spectacular. If you come to Ulaanbaatar Gandan Monastery, you still need to visit, you need tickets at the main entrance and you can feed white pigeons!
6 Winter Palace
Tickets are expensive, very small, nothing to see, under renovation, it is recommended not to go
7 Zaisan Monument
My favorite place in Ulaanbaatar! I've been there twice! Overlooking the entire panorama of Ulaanbaatar, a place to take photos
Highly recommended to come at sunset, it's beautiful!
About 5 kilometers from the city center, need to take a taxi
8 State Department Store
From the first floor National Supermarket to the fifth floor electronics, to the sixth floor you can buy all Mongolian souvenirs, handicrafts, traditional costumes, etc., please come if you want to buy souvenirs
9 Wrestling Palace
There are regular Mongolian wrestling competitions, you can watch with tickets, you can check the time online in advance
‼️ Genghis Khan Statue + Terelj National Park Day Trip
Several points in the city, two or three days can city walk, come to Ulaanbaatar's suburbs by car, to see Mongolia's must-visit Genghis Khan riding statue! Very spectacular!
You can also take photos with eagles at the entrance! It takes more than an hour to drive from the city to here. After seeing the statue, it takes 45 minutes to get to Terelj National Park. You will see the iconic Turtle Mountain and climb a short mountain road to the Buddhist temple.
The scenery along the way is also beautiful, like walking on the Windows 2000 desktop, with cattle and sheep everywhere. If you have time, you can also ride a horse.
🍜 Food recommendation:
Roast whole lamb, hand-held mutton, blood sausage, mare's milk, fried rice, etc.
📝 Note tips:
1 The grassland has plenty of sunshine and strong ultraviolet rays, so prepare sunscreen.
2 Mongolia has a relatively dry climate and a large temperature difference between day and night, so be sure to bring enough warm clothes and respect local customs.

The museum displays relics from various dynasties of Mongolia. After taking the elevator past a huge portrait of Genghis Khan, photography is not allowed in all exhibition halls.
-

A landmark building in Ulaanbaatar, located opposite Genghis Khan Square. The shape is very modern, resembling the Burj Al Arab, so it is also nicknamed the Mongolian Burj Al Arab by locals. This building itself is a hotel, and you can enjoy the city night view while having dinner at the restaurant on the top floor.
-
🌟Ulaanbaatar Landmark:
Opposite the Blue Sky Tower is a red sculpture with the English name of Ulaanbaatar. If you are playing nearby, you can stop by to take a photo.

🌟State Department Store:
It is considered a relatively large department store locally. Although it looks quite old from the outside, there are actually many things worth visiting inside.
-
🌟Gandantegchinlen Monastery:
A famous local attraction, built in 1838, it is a well-known temple locally. Many people come to listen to the scriptures every day, but most of the tourists are from Europe and America.

🌟Bogd Khan Winter Palace:
It actually consists of a winter palace and a summer palace, but the summer palace is under renovation, so currently only the winter palace can be visited. The palace area is not large, and the overall style is purely Chinese. There are places for tourists to rest in the garden. Overall, there are not many visitors.
-
🌟Zaisan Memorial:
A memorial built by the Soviet Union to commemorate the soldiers who died. This place is an excellent spot to overlook the beautiful scenery of the entire city of Ulaanbaatar.
