Zunyi Yunmen Tun Stunning Secret Realm
Explore the karst wonders of Zunyi and experience the natural charm of the confluence of three rivers
📍Historical Heritage
Yunmen Tun, anciently known as "Chuanya" or "Tiansheng Bridge," is located in Sandu Town, Xinpu New District, Zunyi City. It is recorded in the "Zunyi Prefecture Gazetteer" as "a wondrous place east of Zunyi County." This site not only boasts geological wonders spanning hundreds of millions of years but also carries the imprint of the ancient Bo Kingdom civilization—during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, Sandu Town was part of the Bo Kingdom territory. In the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, Yang Yinglong, the Tusi of Bozhou, established a military stronghold here, stationing troops to guard the area, making Yunmen Tun a military fortress. In the Battle of Pingbo, the Ming army seized Sandu Pass, a strategic military point, rewriting the history of Southwest China.
🐉Cultural Legends
Local folklore tells the myth of Master Lu Ban and his apprentices carving mountains and opening rivers: to eliminate the flooding of the Le'an River, Lu Ban and his apprentice Zhao Qiao subdued the mountain god and water monster, splitting the sky with an axe to form today's spectacular scene. Attractions such as Bo Ling Square and Bo Shui Ancient Trail vividly recreate the totem beliefs and cultural heritage of the ancient Bo people.
🌊Geological Wonders
Yunmen Tun’s Water Gate is a rare natural karst bridge over water in the world, over 80 meters wide and about 100 meters high, formed by hundreds of millions of years of river erosion and crustal movement. It is known as the "Eastern Arc de Triomphe." Here, the three rivers—Le'an River, Mei River, and Xiang River—converge, surrounded by mountains and water, embodying grandeur, uniqueness, danger, and beauty all in one.
