As early as the National Day of 2022 when I drove to Yunnan, I planned to drive around Yunnan on the newly built Deqin Road, but at that time the road construction time on the announcement board was extended, so I didn't make it. Four months later, during the Spring Festival of 2023, I finally got my wish‼️

🛣️Old National Highway 214|The old road to Tibet is still worth it
On the way from Shangri-La to Deqin, there is a section of the old National Highway 214, which was an important route from Yunnan to Tibet. After the new National Highway 214 was built, this old national highway was downgraded to Provincial Highway 236, from an altitude of over 3000 to 4292 meters, you can enjoy the Baima Snow Mountain, the cascading roads and grassland vegetation at close range, and you can see the Meili Snow Mountain in front when the weather is good. The drive to Baima Snow Mountain Pass is the highest road section in Yunnan, and it is also the border between Deqin and Shangri-La.
🛣️Deqin Road|Difficult and beautiful
The construction of Deqin Road started at the end of 2009. It is an important road connecting Diqing Tibetans and Nujiang Lisu. The completion of this road also means that the large loop of Yunnan tourism is finally opened, and there is no need to detour. It is more convenient to go from Yunnan to Sichuan!
The Peacock Mountain Tunnel was the most difficult section during the construction of Deqin Road. It used to have to cross the Peacock Mountain Pass at an altitude of 3800 meters. Due to the harsh climate and perennial snow, it was affected by heavy snow from December to June every year and had to be closed, making the road impassable. Now that the Peacock Mountain Tunnel is open, it only takes less than three kilometers and an altitude of 3400 meters to drive through easily.
🛣️National Highway 219|The picturesque mountains and rivers
When I first saw this border line National Highway 219, I was a bit surprised. There are at least 200 kilometers of artificial sightseeing trails built along the road, with picturesque Bingzhongluo and the first bay of the Nujiang River. Continue north along Bingzhongluo to Tibet.
National Highway 219 runs from north to south through the entire Nujiang Prefecture, with the Biluo Snow Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain on both sides of the river, forming a canyon landscape. There are many places to stop along the way, especially like sitting by the rolling waves of the Nujiang River, and taking pictures casually is very cinematic!

A beautiful village hidden at the border of Yunnan and Tibet.
Known as a place where gods and humans coexist 🤩, it is the meeting point of Yunnan and Tibet, and the starting point of Bingzhongluo-Chawalong-Chayu (Bingzhongluo-Chawalong-Chayu), a legendary route for self-driving and off-road enthusiasts. Located at the northernmost end of the Nujiang Gorge - Bingzhongluo.
.
We can enjoy the original beauty of ancient villages, admire the grandeur of the Nujiang River 😍, and take a walk along the historic Tea Horse Road.
.
Driving over mountains and hills, the scenery outside the window is mesmerizing, like a dream 🤩. Passing a cliff, the Nujiang River suddenly makes a 180-degree turn, and at that moment, the famous "First Bend of the Nujiang River" appears, as if welcoming us 😆.
.
Continue to the viewing platform, where you can see the Second Bend of the Nujiang River and Peach Blossom Island. Peach Blossom Island is not a real island, but a large bay formed by the Nujiang River being blocked by the terrain, where villagers farm 😄. Every year in March and April, peach blossoms bloom everywhere, like a fairyland 💐.
.
Main attractions:
1️⃣ Chongding Church: This church can be described in four words - "fusion of East and West." A French missionary built this sacred church in this remote valley in 1935. With a brick and concrete structure, Chinese-style paintings, Western-style arched doors and windows, and twin towers, it presents an elegant concave shape. Destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, it was rebuilt on a smaller scale in 1996. When sunlight falls on the glass windows, it feels like traveling through time, experiencing a strong sense of history. 💒
.
2️⃣ Shimen Pass: Located 3 km north of Bingzhongluo Village, two towering mountains squeeze together like a huge natural stone gate 😲. The mountain walls stretch straight to the sky, truly spectacular! It's like nature's decoration, making people marvel at its beauty 😍!
.
3️⃣ Qiuna Tong, Wuli Village: Starting from Chongding Village in Bingzhongluo, head north along the Nujiang River to reach a small village surrounded by snow-capped mountains, known as the "Eden" 🏞️. The most famous are Qiuna Tong and Wuli Village 🏘️. These villages are like fairylands, making people feel like they are in a paradise 😍!
.
4️⃣ Tea Horse Road: This plank road is suspended on a cliff, winding and narrow, only wide enough for one person to pass sideways, with the roaring Nujiang River on one side. Walking on it, it feels like being swallowed by the breathtaking scenery. 💨🌉
.
5️⃣ Stone Moon: The towering Gaoligong Mountain has a huge round cave, like a bright moon hanging above, incredible! 🌕🗻

The gods and humans dwell together in Bingzhongluo
Angry River originates from Tibet, flows through Yunnan into Myanmar, and finally empties into the Indian Ocean. The section in Tibet is called 'Nachu River', and in Myanmar, it is known as 'Salween River'.
We traveled north along the Angry River for three days, from Lushui City to Laomudeng Village in Fugong County, and then to Bingzhongluo in Gongshan County.
On the third day, we arrived at Bingzhongluo in Gongshan County.
G219 is well-maintained, with a cycling lane provided all the way, offering an experience of a section of Bingzhongluo. After crossing the Yunnan-Tibet border into Linzhi Chayu County, the road turns into a dirt track. Vehicles coming from the Tibet section to Yunnan are covered in mud. Landslides, falling rocks, and debris flows are the norm here, and it is really not recommended to visit during the rainy season.
Here, villages are called 'XX Luo' or 'XX Tong', depending on whether the Nu, Lisu, or Tibetan ethnic groups are the majority in the village; some are called 'Luo' and some 'Tong'. Trek through the ancient tea-horse road of Wuli Village, Qiunatong, overlooking the first and second bends of the Angry River. This place is known as where gods and humans dwell together, probably referring to the peaceful coexistence of multiple ethnicities and religions.

Bingzhongluo is the first bend of the Nu River
The Three Parallel Rivers region in Yunnan includes the Nu River, the Lancang River, and the Jinsha River, with some accounts also adding the Dulong River. The Nu River, the Lancang River, and the Dulong River generally rush southward along the Hengduan Mountains, and after leaving the country, they are renamed the Salween River, the Mekong River, and the Irrawaddy River, respectively. However, the Jinsha River bravely heads east, undaunted by the hardships, and reaches the East China Sea.
No matter how the Three Parallel Rivers are summarized, the Nu River is always referred to as the 'big sister,' which is why the first bend near Bingzhongluo is particularly famous.
Bingzhongluo is a small town, and the best viewpoint of the first bend is on a nearby mountain. The scenery of the town is also quite pleasant, just hope not to encounter a rainy day.

Tibet | It's difficult to enter Tibet via Bingcha line, sharing the scenery of the junction of Yunnan and Tibet
🚗 New Yunnan-Tibet Passage: This 'Tibet' includes Chayu County but mainly in the main area of Tibet (just as the Sichuan-Tibet Highway does not mean to the eastern part of Tibet). The core route is Bingcha Highway, which goes from Dali, Yunnan - Gongshan County - Chayu County, Tibet - Ranwu Town, Bomi County, and then connects to the southern line of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, namely National Highway 318.
It starts from Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, follows the Dali-Baoshan Expressway to Jinchangling, passes through Yunlong, Lushui, Fugong, Gongshan, and ends in Chayu County, with a total length of 786 kilometers (Tibet section 263 kilometers), and is open to traffic. Among them, the section of this channel in Yunnan is 551 kilometers, and the section in Tibet is 235 kilometers.
🚗 Today we walked from Chawalong to Bingzhongluo, and then directly followed the Nu River to Gongshan, Fugong, and finally directly to Dali. It is mainly divided into three sections.
1. Bingcha section, this section of the road is very difficult to walk, stone and soil road. And because it rained last night, there are many puddles on the road. But the scenery in the morning is very beautiful, as I heard that Bingzhongluo, where gods and humans coexist, is indeed well-deserved. About more than 2 hours.
2. The section from Bingzhongluo to Lushui is all asphalt road, and it is all asphalt road when entering Yunnan. You can often see villages on the mountains along the road, and the scenery along the Nu River is also good.
3. The section from Lushui to Dali is a highway, with many tunnels, and the latter part is all downhill, and the road conditions are okay.

The starting point of Bingzhongluo~ Bingzhongluo Town
Now it is called "Bingzhongluo Town", the whole town is just one street, with brand new houses on both sides, as if it has been moved here as a whole.
There are many restaurants and hotels in the town, as well as many government agencies and hospitals, which are not small in scale and should be the administrative center of Bingzhongluo.
Fortunately, I encountered a market day, and the long street was full of various stalls, which were very prosperous.
Looking down from the bridge, you can see a fan-shaped highland barley terrace, shining with golden light under the sun.
In the morning, the mist was lingering, although I didn't see the sea of clouds, it was like a fairyland.
