Registan Square
Registan Square is one of Samarkand’s most famous landmarks and is known as the “Pearl of Central Asia”. There are three magnificent buildings on the square: Ulugbek Madrasah, Tila-Kari Mosque and Sher-Dor Madrasah. The buildings are known for their exquisite tile decorations and intricate architecture.
👣 Bibi-Hanem Mosque
Bibi-Khanem Mosque was built by Timur the Great for his wife Bibi-Khanem and is one of the largest mosques in Samarkand. The mosque is famous for its grand scale and exquisite decoration.
👣Shah I Zindah Mausoleum
The Shah Izindag Mausoleum is a 14th-century mausoleum considered one of the finest buildings in Central Asia. The mausoleum is decorated with exquisite tiles and carvings inside and outside, making it a must-see for tourists. There are a total of forty-four tombs here. The blue porcelain stickers outside the tombs show different colors such as blue-green, treasure lake blue or peacock blue as the light changes throughout the day. A magnificent mausoleum avenue is laid out in it. Although this road of the dead is less than 100 meters long, it is beautiful no matter where you stand and take pictures.
👣Afrosia Museum
Located in the center of Samarkand, the Afrosiab Museum displays many ancient artifacts and artworks, including murals, pottery, and metalwork. These exhibits vividly display Samarkand's long history and culture.
👣Ulugbek Planetarium
Although Ulugbek, an astronomer, mathematician and king, was not a good king, his star catalog observed in the 16th century had an error of only 2 seconds with the modern scientific results of the 21st century, which was an extraordinary achievement.
