When I arrived in Beppu, the first thing that caught my eye was the steam rising from all over the city. As it is famous as a hot spring resort, it is a place where you can feel the power of geothermal energy on your skin. On the "Hell Tour", you can visit various hot springs of various colors, each with its own unique character which was interesting. There are public baths all over the city, and the most famous of these is Takegawara Onsen, shown in the first photo, about a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station. Soaking in the hot water instantly soothes the fatigue of your journey, and casual conversations with the locals are also heartwarming. You can get a panoramic view of the city from Beppu Tower. #2月好去地方2025 Takegawara Onsen has a history of 100 years and is within walking distance of Beppu Station The sand bath experience is 1,500 yen (including the cost of yukata, but not including towels, which can be brought by yourself or purchased from a vending machine) The number of places is limited, with only 8 places per session, so be sure to make an appointment early. After the appointment is completed, you can wait for your number to be called in the rest area. After changing into a yukata and lying down, the staff will start to bury you in hot sand for about 15 minutes. The body will start to sweat and detoxify, which is quite comfortable. In addition, you can bring your phone in to take pictures. The staff is very professional and took the initiative to help us take pictures as a souvenir☺️ The sand bath has its own bathhouse. When I took a shower, my head was really full of sand. It took a long time to wash it clean😆 This experience is really special.
