When I travel all over the country, I always seem to visit temples in each region! It's like visiting a shrine when traveling to Japan or a cathedral when traveling to Europe😁😁 As a 'temple travel enthusiast', I always look for one structure whenever I visit a temple in each region. And the stone pillar erected to support this 'Danggan' is the 'Dangganjiju'. The flag, Dang, fluttering high in the sky, is said to have served as a sign that 'there is a temple here'. It not only served as a compass for people visiting temples, but also symbolized that the area was a sacred area. I think it played a similar role to the ancient Samhan totem poles that symbolized this place as a sacred area or a small island, or the red wooden torii gates that you might have seen at least once if you've been to a Japanese shrine! I recently visited Beopjusa Temple Stay located in Songnisan, Boeun, with my friends. Nestled at the foot of Songnisan, this serene and clean-air destination offered a wonderful opportunity to relax amidst nature. The programs, including 108 bows and tea time with a monk, were simple and not overwhelming. If you opt for the relaxation type of stay, you can spend the entire day enjoying the mountain air and resting. Meals were primarily vegetarian and served in a clean and wholesome manner, which was gentle on the stomach. It's a great place to escape the city and spend some time when you need a break.

The deck road continues along the pretty maple forest next to the valley to Sesimjeong. I think it's the prettiest section at the peak of autumn leaves. We finally arrived at the entrance of Sesimjeong. It's a tough road to this place for Deunglin and plantar fasciitis patients like me. We start hiking with Sesimjeong. If you go south, you will find Cheonwangbong Peak, the top of Songnisan Mountain, and if you go north, you will find Munjangdae, and you have walked almost all the legal hiking trails of Songnisan Mountain.

Seorak to Seoul and Gyeonggi-do along the autumn leaves, and I was lucky to see the peak of the autumn leaves in Songnisan Mountain.
