A Walk Through Beitou’s Healing Past
#hiddengems
Beitou Hot Spring Museum is not just a place—it’s an experience. Imagine soaking in the warmth of a bygone era as you explore exhibits that unveil the therapeutic wonders of natural hot springs. The intricate display of stone pathways and bubbling springs hints at a history steeped in healing and relaxation.
What truly charmed me was the old bathhouse structure. The tiled interior, complete with wooden windows opening into the greenery, exudes tranquility. It was easy to picture how this space must have once been alive with laughter, quiet conversations, and the simple joy of a warm soak.
Bonus? The open-air steps near the entrance offer a peaceful spot for reflection, surrounded by flowers and trickling streams. Beitou’s serenity feels unmatched here.

The Beitou
The Beitou Cultural Relics Museum is located on the hills of Youya Road and Beitou Hot Spring District in Beitou District, Taipei. It was formerly known as the Jiashan Hotel which was built in 1920 and is very famous in Beitou. The high-end hot spring hotel was the Japanese Military Officers Club during the Japanese occupation. In 1945, after the recovery of Taiwan, it became the military residence of the
Beigen Museum and the Jiashan Guest House for official holidays. In the 1980s, Zhang Chunming founded the "House of Taiwanese Folk Art Relics" to collect and preserve Taiwan's early folk artifacts. The Aboriginal art was renamed the Beitou Cultural Relics Museum. In September 1998, the Beitou Cultural Relics Museum became a historic monument. In 2002, due to the need for renovation of the Beitou Cultural Relics Museum, it was temporarily closed and reopened on January 17, 2008. The Beitou Cultural Relics Museum has once again become a good place for holiday travel for the big Taipei people.
