Walking around the expansive park, with its wide avenues and modern sculptures, felt surreal, especially with the peaceful atmosphere that night brings. Right next to it, the Water Cube (Shuilifang) was a stunning sight. The whole building was lit up in these bright blue and green hues, which made it look almost like it was from another world. Its bubble-like design really pops at night, and the way the lights shimmered on its surface was mesmerizing. Even though it’s now a water park, the light show outside draws in so many people—it’s a real highlight of the park at night. After exploring the Olympic Park, I headed over to Guomao, and the vibe there was completely different but equally amazing. The skyscrapers there are on another level, especially the CCTV Headquarters. That L-shaped building, nicknamed “the pants,” looks so futuristic, and at night, the sharp lights tracing its bold design made it look even more striking. The whole area is lit up with colorful lights from all the surrounding skyscrapers, giving off this powerful, modern energy. Guomao at night really shows off the ambition and progress of Beijing.
