The ancien
The ancient canal of Wuxi, the Grand Canal of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, crossed the Wuxi City in an old straight line. The opening of the
ancient canal began in the Spring and Autumn Period. For the development of exchanges with the outside world, the various vassal states have opened canals and communicated natural water systems in the areas under their control. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the earliest and longest-running canal in the world. It and the Great Wall are two great projects created by the working people of ancient China. They are famous all over the world. It starts from Beijing () in the north and Hangzhou (Yuhang) in the south. It has a total length of about 1,764 kilometers and has been in existence for 786 years. At present, there are only 883 kilometers of navigation mileage. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has played an important role in the economic and cultural development and exchanges between China's north and south regions, especially the development of industrial and agricultural economy along the line and the rise of cities and towns.
Standing on the arch bridge to enjoy the scenery of the ancient canal in Wuxi, the boat sailed from a distance from time to time, and then crossed the bridge, a charming Jiangnan style painting.
Nanchang Street is an important commercial street in Wuxi. There are various bars, clear bars, cafes, boutiques and restaurants. Perhaps it is the reason of the slight cold in the early spring, the long street is bustling and not crowded, and it is very pleasant during walking!
