Beijing Daxing International Airport Transit (China Southern Airlines Hotel Services)
#Entry-related information
China Southern Airlines offers free hotel accommodation services to transit passengers who meet certain conditions. I used this service at Beijing Daxing International Airport in December 2024, so I will record it as a memorandum.
【Flights】
Haneda Beijing → Beijing Daxing
15:35 → 18:55
23 hours 45 minutes transfer
Beijing Daxing → Almaty (Kazakhstan)
18:40 → 21:40 the next day
*Boarding passes to Almaty already received at Haneda, both flights economy class
【Procedures after arrival at the airport】(From entry to hotel)
(1) From disembarking to the arrival lobby
・Follow the signs for "exit"
・There was a fingerprint machine on the way, but I was able to pass through it without any problems, fingerprints will be taken at the time of inspection
・When you arrive at the immigration checkpoint, there is a desk to fill out the immigration card on your left. The ballpoint pen provided had no ink and I couldn't use it, so I used my own pen.
・On the front of the immigration card, I checked "Transit" as the purpose of entry, wrote "Beijing" as the city of stay, and "Beijing CSN Pearl Hotel" as the address of my stay. On the back, I also wrote the date of departure from China and the flight name. (My flight to Almaty was China Southern Airlines flight 5097, so I wrote CZ5097.)
・At immigration, I lined up in the line for foreigners (there was a booth for temporary entry permits at the back on the left, but as of December 2024, Japanese people are exempt from visas for short-term stays, so there is no need to line up here)
・At immigration, I handed my passport and departure ticket to the official. I was asked about my purpose of entry and next destination, and my fingerprints were taken, and the inspection was over.
・After the inspection, I went to the baggage claim area → customs (X-ray inspection of luggage) and could go to the international arrivals lobby on the 1st floor.
*By the way, I was stopped at customs. He asked me if I had a book, and when I said I didn't, he asked me if I had any papers. I showed him a bunch of papers, including hotel reservation confirmations, that I had put in a clear file, and he was convinced.
(2) From the airport to the hotel
- From the 1F international arrival lobby, take the nearby escalator to the 4F international departure lobby.
- With your back to the terminal entrance, you will find the China Southern Airlines service counter on your right, near Zone B/C. A staff member near the entrance told me to wait a little while if I wanted to use the transit hotel, so I waited in a nearby seat.
- I waited just under 30 minutes for the next information.
- Another staff member came and checked my passport and airline ticket (two tickets, one before and one after the transit) on the spot.
- The staff member guided me to a minivan and we moved to the hotel. There were about 15 of us.
- This time, I stayed at the Radisson Hotel. It seems that you are often guided to the Beijing CSN Pearl Hotel, which is part of China Southern Airlines, but that is not always the case.
- You will need to show your passport and airline ticket when you check in. You will also be asked to enter your name and flight number. No fees will be charged. Once you receive your card key, check-in is complete.
・It took about an hour and a half from disembarking to entering the hotel room.
【Hotel stay】
・A spacious double room for one person! It's so spacious that you may wonder if it's really free.
・Bottled drinking water is available.
・Each room has a separate shower and toilet. Hot water comes out after a while.
・I didn't get the impression that there were any shops around the hotel. I think it's better to have dinner and do your shopping at the airport.
・Breakfast service is available at the dining area on the basement floor from around 6:30 the next morning. Your card key will be checked when you enter. There isn't much Chinese food, but there is a wide variety of food.
・Check-out is completed by handing your card key to the front desk.
・Transport from the hotel to the airport is available every hour and half past the hour, except at 12:00 and 17:30. I was waiting for the 11:00 departure, but three minutes before the time, there was still no sign of the bus, so I got worried and asked the front desk if I was going to the airport. Since there were no other passengers, I was picked up in a regular vehicle (a hotel company car?) instead of a bus. The journey took 5 minutes.
[Departure]
- Since I had already received my boarding pass, I did not stop at the check-in counter and headed to the international departure gate.
- Proceed in the order of customs and security. At Chinese airports, if you leave your mobile battery in your luggage during security, you will likely be re-inspected, so I recommend removing it from your luggage in advance.
- After security, I crossed a bridge? to go to immigration. I was between security and immigration, so I was unable to take a photo, but I personally think this bridge is one of the highlights of the airport.
- At immigration, the lanes for foreigners were closed, and only the lanes for "e-visas" and "Belt and Road recipients" were open. I was sure that I was not holding an e-visa, so I lined up in the "Belt and Road recipients" lane, and there was no problem with that.
*The time when I passed through immigration was when there were few international flights, so there were very few open lanes at customs, security, and immigration.
-During immigration, I was asked about my next destination and the purpose of entry for my next destination.
-It took about 30 minutes from the international departure gate (gate in front of customs) to immigration.
[Other]
-I don't speak Chinese, but English was fine from the entry to the airport, hotel, and departure.
-As a result, I didn't spend any money during the transit.
[Impressions]
-This was my first time using China Southern Airlines, and the transit hotel service was very good!
-I was in transit for about 24 hours and only stayed at the airport + hotel, but to be honest, I was bored. There is a train station on the first basement floor of the airport, so it might be a good idea to leave the hotel early and go into the city.
I hope this is helpful for those who are considering using China Southern Airlines transit at Beijing Daxing International Airport!
