#springwander Santa Maria Novella Church is the largest church after Florence Cathedral. It is the first Gothic church in Florence, built in 1269. As a tourist attraction, compared to other churches, there are many attractions and few people, so it is a hidden place where you can enjoy it slowly. The cute appearance like a black-rimmed Gothic-patterned toy and the gorgeous interior with depth rather than the impression of the appearance are worth a look. In particular, many works by artists representing the Renaissance period are on display, and religious paintings are painted on the walls of the church.

Florence, my first stop: Santa Maria Novella

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Novella is located opposite Florence's largest railway station, so the train station is also named New Virgin Mary Train Station S.M.Novella. The church was called the "new" Virgin Mary because it was built on the foundation of the 9th century Madonna Prayer. This church is the first Pontifical church in Florence.
