A must see landmark in Lyon 🇫🇷⛪️🔔
#timetotravel
The Basilica is located on the Fouvrière hill, overlooking Lyon and there are 3 ways to get there:
1) To take the tram from Vieux Lyon to Fourvière
2) Hike (~18 mins on foot)
3) By car (~4 mins)
I took the 1st option going up and the 2nd option down. I would definitely recommend taking the tram because the tram itself is another attraction in lyon (much like the peak tram in HK).
The Basilica is a majestic architecture with both outstanding interior and exterior design. It is definitely worth visiting.

Lyon, France, can finish the city in one day, if only passing by.
has a special recommendation
Sophia..
The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvire is a Catholic sub-temple in Lyon, France. Combining Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, I chose two non-gothic designs that were unusual at the time. With exquisite mosaics, superb window panes, and St. Joseph's basement, it gives me a powerful visual shock. Whether it's murals, glass, domes and columns, everything is intricately crafted.
The Notre Dame de Fourviere actually contains two churches. The church is very gorgeous, and the church is very simple.
Overlooking the Lyon peninsula on the top of the Riviera, the Rhone River and the Sane River meet here. It is a very good view point. It is recommended to climb up to overlook the charm of Lyon, the night is quite beautiful, the whole mountain There are lights, golden light and river water.

A pilgrimage to Lyon, France.
Embarking on a pilgrimage to Lyon, France, feels like stepping into a living historical scroll. Every ancient stone slab seems to tell the story of the devout faith and resilient footsteps of those who came before.
Along the way, the church bells echo over the city, like a heavenly guide for travelers. The roadside architecture varies in style, from Gothic to Baroque, bearing witness to the passage of time. In front of Lyon Cathedral, I paused, the sunlight casting its glow on the exquisite sculptures, evoking a sense of sacredness that stirred my soul. This place has borne the prayers and hopes of countless people, and I am in pursuit of their spiritual path.
Along the way, I encountered many like-minded individuals, some from afar, others local residents. Though we spoke different languages, our shared enthusiasm was evident in our exchanged glances. This pilgrimage is not just a pursuit of religious faith, but also a quest for self-discovery. It allows me to detach from the hustle and bustle of the secular world, to contemplate the meaning and value of life, and to restore inner peace and purity, as if undergoing a spiritual baptism.

Trip to Lyon 🇫🇷
It was a short weekend getaway to Lyon, France.
We began our day with a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière, perched atop a hill overlooking the city. The basilica's stunning architecture, with its mix of Gothic and Byzantine styles, took our breath away. We explored the interior, marveling at the beautiful mosaics and stained-glass windows, then climbed to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Lyon 😍😍😍

💰Free, but a small fee of €3 to access the observation deck
We also wandered down to Vieux Lyon, the city’s charming old town. We explored the narrow cobblestone streets lined with Renaissance buildings and discovered some of the city’s famous traboules (hidden passageways). It felt like stepping back in time as we stumbled upon quaint boutiques and hidden courtyards 🙌🙌🙌
In the afternoon, we visited the Musée des Confluences, a fascinating science and anthropology museum located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. We explored the diverse exhibits, from dinosaur skeletons to cultural artifacts, and learned so much about the world’s natural and human history. The building’s futuristic design is also worth seeing up close!

We then took a leisurely walk through the Parc de la Tête d'Or, Lyon's largest park. We loved wandering around the beautiful rose gardens 🌹 , visiting the free zoo, and even renting a paddleboat on the lake. It's a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying some fresh air amidst nature.
📍Place du Général Leclerc, 69006 Lyon, France

📍 23 Rue de Sèze, 69006 Lyon, France
💰€50-€70 per person
We also visited to Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, Lyon's famous indoor food market. We explored the various stalls filled with fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and pastries. I would recommend trying the Saint-Marcellin cheese 🧀 and grabbing a coffee ☕️ and praline brioche at one of the local bakeries.

💰€10-€20 for snacks
Lastly, we made our way to the Croix-Rousse district, known for its silk-weaving history. Lyon | Collector's satisfaction.
| Collector's satisfaction.
I just finished my solo trip to Lyon the day before yesterday. This is the first time I have traveled abroad by myself, and it feels really cool! I thought I would be a little lonely, but I didn't feel that way at all, and I enjoyed it to the fullest.
This was my last night in Lyon. I just wanted to take a stroll in the evening, but I didn't expect to see a beautiful sunset on the hillside. I quickly took the tram to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière to watch the sunset.
The side facing the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is the east, so you can only see the night view. So I don't know why I followed the sunset to a jogging and walking path, and I also met many night runners with searchlights on their heads. When I finally came to an open place to take the last sunset afterglow after bypassing the layers of trees, I found that there was a cemetery below. (No wonder the scenery is so good)
My favorite part of traveling is to climb to the highest point of a city at sunset and overlook the entire city, enjoying the brief peace and beauty of that moment. The next sunset on Montmartre is ready.

Most Beautiful Basilica in France
I don't mean to exaggerate. Also, I haven't seen all the basilica's out there but with extensive travels across Europe and more specifically France. I have willingly and at times half heartedly ticked several churches and basilica's off my list. There are very few that stand out as the Basilica of Notre Dame in Lyon does. The only other stunning instance as such was in Vatican.
Firstly the beautiful location on the Furviere hill. You do have a funicular ride to bring you there and back. That simplifies things. The location allows for brilliant views. And it's sort of a complex with another building and and equally impressive crypt. The most eye catching part are the mosaics and paintings that have a surreal effect. There is a chapel next door too. Amongst the list of historical sights I saw, this one ranks number one for Lyon. Highly recommended!

The interior of the cathedral is magnificent and delicate.
If you go to the back of the cathedral, you can see the whole of Lyon at a glance.
There is also a cafe, so it is good to have a cup of tea while looking at the scenery.
You can get there by cable car from Vieux Lyon, so you don't have to go up a difficult mountain.

Lyon city walk
Lyon's city center is not large, and the attractions are very dense.
If you're just going to see the sights, half a day is enough to walk through: Notre-Dame de Fourvière, the ruins of the Roman theater, the Murals of Lyon (there really are a lot of murals in Lyon), and so on. All are within walking distance.
Standing at the highest point, you can see the whole city, and there are not many high buildings. Walking through the old town of Lyon is very comfortable, with many small bars and coffee shops on both sides. It's great for taking photos. Strolling, stopping, taking pictures, having a drink, it's very pleasant.
