Baolun Temple is located opposite the Ciqikou Crossing Building, with its back against Baiyan Mountain and facing the Jialing River. Because Emperor Jianwen once took refuge here, it is also known as "Longyin Temple". The temple has a long history and is the only one preserved among the many temples in the ancient town. In the past, the ancient temples were layered, the forests were dense, hundreds of birds were singing, and the temples were covered with green pines and cypresses. There are 16 halls and 372 Buddha statues inside. Unfortunately, the halls were destroyed in the war at the end of the Ming Dynasty, leaving only the Main Hall. During the Anti-Japanese War, some of the surviving meditation rooms in the back hall were also destroyed by Japanese planes when they bombed Chongqing. Baolun Temple is divided into the Main Hall, the Chuanzhu Hall, the Guanyin Pavilion, the Medicine King Hall, the meditation rooms and the Sutra Library. The pillars of the Main Hall are made of horse mulberry wood that can be hugged by two people, and the diameter of the pillars is one foot. The architectural combination of the Main Hall does not use a single nail. In the hall, dragons are embracing the pillars, and phoenixes are dancing and flying. The strange thing is that there are two pillars, one of which protrudes from the ground by about one foot, and the other is sunken by several inches. The two pillars are balanced without any tilt, which is really a masterpiece of ingenuity. There is a well in front of the Buddha statue, named "Fangsheng Well", and the bottom of the well leads directly to the "Nine Stone Jars" by the river.
