Historic buildings
Baochu Pagoda is a landmark landscape on Gem Mountain, across the lake from Leifeng Pagoda on the other side. The Baochu Pagoda that people see now was rebuilt in 1933 and reinforced in the 1990s. Near the tower, there are boulders and stone benches for recreation, and it is also an excellent viewing platform for overlooking the beautiful scenery of the West Lake. Although the Baochu Pagoda itself cannot be climbed, it does not prevent it from becoming a photographer's darling. Especially in the evening when the rays of the sun are full and the lights are on at night, it can be called the "standard photo" of the West Lake.

Baochu Pagoda, one of the land mark in Hangzhou
The pagoda is a five-story structure that was originally built in the 10th century during the Southern Tang Dynasty and has since been rebuilt and renovated. It is uniquely positioned on Baochu Hill, offering a commanding view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The name Baochu, which translates to "Preserving the Pure," reflects the temple’s role in preserving the purity of the landscape and its spiritual significance.
From the base of the hill, you’ll need to ascend a series of stone steps to reach the pagoda. The walk itself is quite pleasant, surrounded by lush trees and shaded pathways. Along the way, you can stop and admire the tranquil gardens and smaller pavilions that dot the hill, each offering peaceful spots to sit and enjoy the beauty of the area.
Overall, a visit to Baochu Pagoda offers both a peaceful retreat and a chance to take in one of the most stunning panoramic views of West Lake. It’s a spot where history, culture, and nature come together in perfect harmony, and a truly memorable experience in Hangzhou.
