Explore Liaoyang and Discover the First Tower in Northeast China
🏙️ "Half of the history of Northeast China is in Liaoyang." This saying inspired me to visit Liaoyang...
🌇 Liaoyang is the oldest city in Northeast China and a national historical and cultural city. It is known as the "First City in Northeast China." The city is home to many national cultural relics, including Han and Wei mural tombs, the Liao Dynasty White Pagoda, and the ruins of the Later Jin Tokyo City. The sixth tallest tower in China and the tallest tower in Northeast China is located in Liaoyang's White Pagoda Park, near Liaoyang Railway Station.
☑️ Liaoyang White Pagoda is a national key cultural relic protection unit, the best-preserved ancient pagoda in Northeast China, and a landmark building in Liaoyang. It was built during the Liao Dynasty and is 70.4 meters tall. It is a classic work that combines Buddhist culture, Han culture, and Khitan culture. It is called the White Pagoda because its body is covered with white lime, but after years of weathering, it no longer appears white.
🙋 Highlights of the White Pagoda: The White Pagoda is an octagonal, thirteen-story, solid brick pagoda with dense eaves and a stupa. It consists of five parts: the base, the seat, the body, the eaves, and the finial. The brick carvings on the pagoda are very beautiful, with designs such as dragons playing with pearls, animal faces, and peonies. The lower part of the pagoda has a tall Sumeru seat, which is decorated with magnificent statues of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, attendants, and Vajra warriors. The entire White Pagoda is very impressive and is a genuine ancient relic.
⛲ Below the White Pagoda is the famous Heart Lake, as well as ancient-style Buddhist pavilions, pagoda springs, and various imitation ancient buildings. Today, it is a popular place for Liaoyang residents to walk, relax, and exercise. The park also has many historical sites that are worth visiting.
