Malta | Gozo Island Day Tour Guide
When visiting Malta, in addition to touring the main island, be sure to leave a day or two for Gozo Island.
Gozo Island, located to the northwest of Malta Island, covers an area of just 67 square kilometers and is home to over 20,000 residents. In Homer's epic Odyssey, Gozo Island is described as a rugged place. In fact, it is now a peaceful and tranquil place, a popular weekend getaway for many people living on the main island of Malta.
Victoria City is the capital of Gozo Island, renamed Victoria in honor of Queen Victoria's 25th birthday from its original name, Rabat. Most of the local people live here. The Citadel Castle is built at the commanding height in the center of Victoria City.
🌈Recommended route:
The famous Blue Window (Game of Thrones filming location), Victoria City, Salt Pans, etc. are all worth visiting.
The sightseeing bus has a total of 15 stops, starting from Mgarr and finally returning to Mgarr. When buying a ticket, you will receive a map with the departure times of each stop marked. However, the bus is usually not so punctual, and it is common for it to arrive ten or so minutes late. Because many of the stop names are not in English, it is recommended that you get off at the following stops for sightseeing.
1️⃣Fourth or tenth stop: Victoria (Victoria City, Citadel Castle)
2️⃣Sixth stop: Dwejra (Azure Window)
3️⃣Ninth stop: Xlendi (Seaside town)
4️⃣Eleventh stop: Marsalforn (Salt Pans, take a taxi after arrival)
5️⃣Twelfth stop: Ggantija Temples (Historical site)
6️⃣Thirteenth stop: Ramla (Tal Mixtar Cave, take a taxi after arrival)

Departure time: 9:45 (first bus)

⛴️Transportation:
- The main way to get to Gozo Island from the main island is by ferry, which operates 24 hours a day. If you are staying in Sliema or St. Julian's, you need to take a bus to Cirkewwa Pier first, and then take the ferry.

Following the Game of Thrones to check in the famous filming location - Azure Window
Malta has three blues, the Blue Window, the Blue Hole, and the Blue Lagoon, and the Blue Window was once the most famous one. When you come to Gozo Island in Malta, you will definitely not miss this famous Azure Window. It is well known to the world because it was filmed here in 'Game of Thrones'.
🔶The former Blue Window
The Blue Window is located on the northwest side of Gozo Island. Located at the end of a cliff, it is a natural arch formed by limestone. Its huge size is like a natural sea cave formed by the sea here after thousands of years of erosion and wind erosion. It is a special geological wonder. Through the naturally formed stone arch, you can see the spectacular view of the sea and sky.
Unfortunately, in March 2017, due to long-term wind erosion and wave impact, the Blue Window collapsed after a storm. Therefore, what we see here today is just a huge cliff and limestone, and we can only vaguely discern the appearance of the Blue Window at that time.
The huge stone beach on the coast has been eroded by the sea and is pitted, and the mountains in the distance have also been gouged out by the sea breeze.
🔶Snorkeling
There is also a cave near the Blue Window where you can snorkel, but unfortunately the boat that entered the cave before winter did not open this time. If you come here in summer, bring your swimsuit, you can snorkel here or follow the boat into the cave for a tour.
📍Navigation: It-Tieqa tad-Dwejra, Gozo
🚗Transportation:
Drive by yourself or take the sightseeing bus on the island and get off at the sixth station Dwejra, you can take the next bus to leave on the return journey.

The lost world heritage, the ruins of the collapse, the blue window ruins of Malta h
on the map so small that only the name of Malta has more than 7,000 years of history, its streets are full of magnificent churches with historical colors, blue The coastline is fascinating, and it is known as the back garden of Europe and the heart of the Mediterranean.
coming to Malta In addition to the slow strolling in the streets of the city, there is also a place to visit, and the blue window of Malta is the most famous attraction in the whole island of Gozo, Malta. Visitors who come to Malta must call the card
Malta's "Blue Window, Blue Hole and Blue Lake" and become Malta's "Three Blues", but the Blue Window is the most famous of the three scenery, maybe you I havent heard of the blue window, or I dont know where Malta is, but if you talk about the game of power, you will suddenly realize that this popular American drama is here!
But this famous attraction no longer exists. Now the blue window has changed from the earliest popular punching place to the current "blue window ruins". When it collapsed, there was no time to go to the punch. The people shouted "Heart hurts to breathe."
Previous reports have pointed out that long-term natural erosion will one day make this attraction disappear, so they have already strengthened this protection in 2016, but in the end they have not been spared or collapsed.
Perhaps because of this collapse, Malta has become more famous. All of them suddenly found out that some places can no longer see such beautiful scenery if they dont go now.
