Ayana is really the behemoth of hotel complexes in Bali—the entire area is so large that shuttle buses are needed. I've been here three times before, staying at the Ayana Resort and Villas Bali, Ayana Resort and Spa Bali, and Rimba Jimbaran Bali by Ayana. This time I'm staying at the newly opened in 2022, Segara at Ayana Bali. The new hotel's design is based on the traditional tropical resort, infused with a strong local flavor and a unique spatial experience. Segara is the highest hotel in the entire Ayana complex, situated at the intersection of forest and ocean, set against the backdrop of natural beauty. Through the use of local textures and various materials, cultural elements are integrated. The architectural form is inspired by the undulating rice terraces of Ubud, cleverly utilizing the terrain of the site to present an organic fluidity, including an aerial view of the main pool surrounded by bougainvillea, which also makes the architectural curves look more lively and interesting. The hotel rooms are set up in a non-traditional, non-linear fashion around three public courtyards, to allow guests to see as much of the beauty of Jimbaran Bay as possible. This time, I'm staying at the newly opened Bali Ayana Segara Hotel in '22. Since many of the facilities at the four hotels are shared, I also visit different restaurants and pools at each hotel. Among them, the Sami Sami Italian restaurant at Ayana Resort is a very nice restaurant! This is basically an all-outdoor pavilion restaurant - located next to the hotel's main pool and right above Rock Bar, with a stunning cliffside sea view! Coming here in the afternoon for some Italian cuisine and then heading to Rock Bar to watch the sunset is a great choice. The most spectacular thing about Rock Bar is how ingeniously it integrates the bar with the natural terrain of the seaside, with a multi-level, staggered design that allows guests sitting in any spot to appreciate the power of the raging waves, as well as the dazzling sunset and twilight. The sunset view from Sami Sami is also quite impressive! So if you can't get a spot at Rock Bar, or if the spot isn't good enough - consider enjoying a different but equally beautiful sunset view at Sami Sami, where you can see the endless ocean from another angle.
