Travel tips and tmi about Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺📝
•They say it's the most European-like city in Australia. Sydney is a bit like China, and this is relatively European. The weather is also like London...☁️🌧
•It's the first city to make flat whites. There are so many cafes and the coffee is all delicious (Photo 10: Brick Lane Coffee)
•The city is cute and it's really fun to walk around and go into stores
•The Queen Victoria Market night market is only open in the summer, but there's a lot to eat and it's fun! (Photo 46 is the daytime market, Photo 57 is the night market)
•There are free trams in certain areas of the city. Only Tram No. 35 looks like an old tram, and the rest look modern (Photo 8)
•There are a lot of students wearing school uniforms in the city during the day... I wonder why... If you know, please tell meㅜㅜ
•Traffic card tip☆: When you first buy a Myki card, you have to pay a $6+@ deposit. Later, you have to go to a specific station and ask for a refund, and it's a pain in the ass. But even if this card has insufficient balance, you can ride 'once' with a minus balance. It's deducted from the deposit 6.
I had to ride a total of $9.2 worth of round trips for $4.6 each, so
I paid a deposit of 6 + top-up 5, so I bought the card for a total of $11, and used the deposit to deduct the second ride.
I used it to ride the train to Brighton and Kilda.
•Suburban travel destination 1 - Great Ocean Road (Photo 11): Book a day tour and take a bus to go! You have to sit in the seat with the window on the left to see the ocean on the way.
•Suburban travel destination 2 - Phillip Island: This is where fairy penguins live. They say you can see the penguins leaving work at night. I thought about it for a while... I gave up because my wallet was too poor to pay 160,000 won to see the penguins leaving work. Instead, I went to St Kilda Pier (Photo 12, 13) and saw fewer penguins from a bit further away for free. Actually, this is a place where you can buy a ticket and go up close to see it, but a few months ago, someone threw a rock at a penguin and it died. So it was closed. (This is from April 2022 when I went. I don't know now.) Unfortunately, I could only see it from afar and couldn't see it properly, but the little kid next to me said that he could see it well because his eyesight is really good. Instead, I could really hear the baby penguins calling for their mom and dad (Photo 12 The white ones on the rock are baby penguins)
•Suburban travel destination 3 - Brighton Bathing Box: This is a beach lined with bathing boxes. It seems to be a photo spot because it's so colorful (Photo 13)
• The pronunciation seems closer to '멟은' than 'Melbourne'
•Melbourne dialect... It's really hard to understand...
It seems easy to understand (in my opinion) in the order of US/Canada West > East > Sydney > London > Melbourne. You really have to focus hard to hear the Melbourne pronunciation, otherwise it sounds like a second language that just passes by your earsㅠㅠ
