[2025 Atami Attraction] Travel Guide for Atami Castle (Updated Feb)

#JapanTravel Atami visited to see fireworks!! As expected of a hot spring city, there is a large footbath in front of the station♨️ Atami seems to be a place where many Japanese people visit for vacation, and there were a lot of Japanese people on vacation when we visited!! As expected of a hot spring area, there were a lot of dairy snacks, so we walked around eating a lot...😋 Among them, I really recommend #AtamiPuding!! The interval between city buses is really long and they don't come exactly on schedule, so be careful about the time!! We also ended up returning without seeing the inside of Atami Castle😭

Unlike all the other castles that I’ve been to before, Atami Castle doesn’t really have a huge gallery. It only houses many miniatures and paintings of castles all around Japan, some traditional artifacts, and some old paintings of ancient Japan’s porn. *laughs* However, those are not the things you would like to experience in Atami Castle. Originally thought it was just an ordinary attraction, but it turned out to be the most memorable place of the trip! 🚠 Transportation: - Take a cable car up the mountain (about 5 minutes) - One car per trip, alternating up and down, so the waiting time is longer 🎪 Exciting Performances: - Daily monkey shows 🐵 - Showtimes are irregular; we caught the 1 PM show (check the official website for times) - The monkeys dance and perform tricks, super cute 🥹 🎮 Great Facilities‼️ - The basement is a retro game paradise! Even has nostalgic monster-fighting games - Mario Kart, fighting game machines, children's play area - Ping pong tables available (each group limited to 30 minutes) - Key point: All game facilities are free‼️ (though some games might be a bit broken due to age 🤣) - You can freely enter and exit the area, so no worries if you get hungry and want to grab a snack ♨️ Special Highlights: - There is a seaside foot bath ♨️, super relaxing while looking at the sea‼️ Towels available for purchase (¥100) - You can also visit the Adult Treasure Museum (18+ only) and the 3D maze 💡 Helpful Tips: - Tickets are valid for the entire day - Recommend setting aside half a day to enjoy slowly - Highly recommended for families with children - Game areas might require queuing For the ticket price, you get to enjoy so many facilities, making it a great value! #cherryblossom2024 Atami Castle, towering 120 meters above Sagami Bay, looks very ancient. However, although the creators were inspired by the architecture of the Momoyama period (1568-1600), this is one of the newest castles in Japan: it was built in 1959. #2024wish Not a castle built centuries ago. Just an imitation. Visitors can ride a lift to the top (6th) level, where commands an excellent view of the seashore, and at the back a hillside planted with trees. Visitors can come down by staircase to visit the lower floors where displays show the old Japanese life. There is a special floor that houses a collection of old style Japanese erotic paintings. The content is bold and illustrative. It is warned right in front of the entrance that persons under 18 are not allowed to enter. I want to visit this place again in 2024.
