Game of Thrones filming location! Ait Ben Haddou travel guide
Departing from Marrakech, a 3.5-hour self-drive will take you to a must-visit spot on the loop, the Game of Thrones filming location Ait Ben Haddou!
The village is very small, if you are in a hurry like us, you can stay directly in the village. If you want to stay in a better place, you can go to Ouarzazate first, and then drive back 30km to Ait Ben Haddou village.
You can walk directly to the castle from the main road of the village. As the filming location of 'Game of Thrones', 'The Mummy', and 'Gladiator', it is also very popular among photography enthusiasts, and it's a great place for taking photos!
💡The castle is free of charge🆓, but there is an old man who charges for the nearest shortcut. (Probably because it passes by his house?) Most tourists and group tours go up from the right side of the main road, cross the nearly dry creek, and follow the sign with the large 'Entrance' to the main gate of the castle!
The entire castle is surrounded by red brick walls, with scenery all the way, and various local souvenir shops and handicrafts. You can overlook the entire village from the highest point~ Especially the stairs in front of the highest point of the castle, it's a great place for taking photos!📸
When you come down, you can rest in a local tea house and have a cup of Moroccan mint tea🍃. The terrace view of the tea house we went to was superb! Taking photos gives a sense of Aladdin's magic lamp, full of exotic charm, and the boss is very enthusiastic~☀️
Finally, cross the bridge back to the village, taking photos of the castle from the bridge is also a beautiful spot!🕶
🏨Accommodation
We stayed at the very popular Guest House Bagdad Café in the village, there is a parking space at the door🅿️, and it's very convenient to go to the castle!
The Culinary Cruise
Magical Ait Ben Haddou has been the movie set for countless films and TV shows, including Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Kingdom of Heaven, and many more.
Destination Deluxe
Magical Ait Ben Haddou. You can still see where the arena was for the Gladiator movie (the circle to the right).

Ait Ben Haddou.
I travel a lot, and now I'm in Morocco.
Country number 102 on my journey.
I came here on the recommendation of a friend when I was planning my trip to Morocco.
And here I am, doing just that, haha 😹
Visiting Ait Ben Haddou in Morocco was a magical experience, like traveling through time. This fortified clay palace is considered one of the most famous historical monuments in Morocco.
It is located on the ancient caravan route between the desert and Marrakech. As I wandered through the narrow alleys and traditional clay buildings, I appreciated the simple beauty and heritage of this UNESCO World Heritage site. From the top of the fortress, the views of the valley and the surrounding landscape were breathtaking. The place holds a lot of tranquility and spirituality, making it one of the most beautiful landmarks I've visited and a special stop on my journey.
Thanks for the recommendation, my friend.

Dear travelers must pay attention to these seven intimate Tips, to make the journey smoother💖:
-
1. 🚢A bottle of mineral water from hometown is a secret weapon: Remember to check in a bottle of domestic mineral water before departure, and boil it with local water when you first arrive in Morocco, which can effectively prevent the small troubles caused by acclimatization💦!
-
2. 💵Money exchange tips, dollars are more cost-effective: It is recommended to exchange dollars in advance in China, and then exchange them into dirhams after arriving at the local airport. Not only is the exchange rate cost-effective, don't forget to remind the staff to give more change, because in a tip country, you may need to use coins to express gratitude at any time😊!
-
3. 📶Wi-Fi card is good, but it is out of contact in the desert: Although the local Wi-Fi card is affordable and the signal is stable, please remember that once you step into the desert area, the network signal becomes a luxury, so be prepared for the disconnection💻!
-
4. 🔌Conversion plug + plug board = charging artifact: Morocco uses European standard plugs, so remember to bring a conversion plug and a plug board, so that your electronic devices can collectively "refuel", and you don't have to worry about power shortage📱!
-
5. 🌞Sunscreen is beneficial, and common medicines are self-contained: The sun in Morocco is hot, and you must bring more sunscreen. In addition, due to the difference in medicines, it is recommended to carry basic common medicines for emergencies💊.
-
6. 🍜Instant noodles can also save the world: Moroccan local meals may not be in line with the taste of some people, so you might as well carry a few packs of instant noodles or snacks. When you are hungry, you can definitely solve the urgent need🍜!
-
7. 🧕Long skirts, trousers, shawls, must be prepared for entering the mosque: Respect local culture, female friends should prepare long skirts, trousers or large shawls, which are indispensable when visiting the mosque, both warm and decent💃!
-
Interactive tips💡: Come and leave a message to tell everyone what part of Morocco you are most looking forward to? Or what unforgettable experiences do you have in Morocco? Welcome to share😊.

Ait Benhaddou is 30 kilometers 35 minutes drive from Ouarzazate, and is a historic fortified village along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech route.
The village, built around the 12th century, sits proudly on a hill overlooking the Asif Ounila river. In 2011 a new pedestrian bridge was completed linking the old ksar and modern village. The village buildings are grouped together within a defensive walls, that included corner towers and gate. On top the hill stands a large fortified granary called agadir, that included mosque and square. The view from the top to the surroundings is beautiful.
It is considered a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

Ait Ben Haddout is a fortified city along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it has been the backdrop for numerous movies!

2011 to this year, "The Game of Rights" has finally come to an end. I believe many people, like me, don't believe that this is the end, and they will feel that they can come to the ninth season. The King of Light resurrected the Dragon Mother.
From the first season of the dragon mother appearance, was attracted by this porcelain doll Danielis Tanglelian. Personally feel that the liberation of slaves, the battle of Milin is the best time for the dragon mother, have their own team, there are three dragons, the loyal ministers of the mulberry, the gray worm, the big bear are around, at that time even the clothing, hair style are the most beautiful of.
In Ayut Ben Haddou, Morocco, in the province of Ouarzazate [Location Village is the third season of the Game of Thrones, the slave bay and the city-state free trade market, although the time of appearance in the drama is not Long, but it is indeed a favorite location for many movie guides. The previously flaming "Red Sea Action" is also here.
The camel business traveler used it as a station to make the village flourish. After hundreds of years, the village is still the village, but it is no longer a merchant but a visitor. There are fewer and fewer Aboriginal people here, leaving only a few families to live in symbolic terms, and more are vendors selling local souvenirs.
The price of small commodities here is relatively close to other people, of course, the price after bargaining. If you have a look at your eyes, you can buy it quickly. After all, its really a village that doesnt have this store. Dont think about the future cities, you can look at it again, shop around, Because there are some handmade things, there is no such thing as a shop.
About Morocco to buy things, I personally feel that according to the price that the owner gave you, I will cut it after two folds. Of course, I will cut it at the ideal price in your own heart. Obsessed to buy the mood to bargain, can be a good deal, if not, then consider whether this item is really needed, do not need to smile to leave, maybe, the store will also call you back, as you said The price is traded.
Miss Cat.
You can make a big movie without showing your face, the right game is punctured, the most beautiful village in Morocco - Ait Ben Haddou village
like my photo, remember to pay attention to
with the game of power The return of the sixth season, the American fans began to boil again, including the cat.
In February 2019, I came here with a small partner on several roads:
Ouarzazate, Morocco, Ait Benben Ait Ben Haddou - listed in the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1987, also known as "the most beautiful village in Morocco".
Located in the desert oasis of southern Morocco, in the province of Ouarzat, is a Casbah-style complex built on a hill. The river flows through the village, and the houses and granaries are red clay. The mud bricks were made and the whole building was like a red fortress.
How to get there:
You can sign up for a desert private group in Morocco, or a group of tourists, which will contain this famous attraction.
The best shooting point:
1. Follow the guide to the village, there are many colorful shops all the way, just at the door of which store is a large piece
2. On the mountain In front of the bridge, on the bridge, visually far away, each has a feel
3. The half-mountain can overlook the panoramic view of the ancient city, whether it is a back shot or a side face will be beautiful
4. Close to the hole in the top of the mountain, you can sit on the stone and look down on the stone. It is beautiful enough without showing your face.

The place where the native Berbers live in Morocco
Ait Benbenha is the location for many films such as "The Game of Rights" and "The Action of the Red Sea". The earthy red building, the ancient village is home to Moroccan natives. Berber.
There are some nice small shops in the village. If you have time, you can walk slowly in the village. It is worth scouring slowly.
YIYI NOTES.
In 1987, UNESCO listed Ait Ben Haddou as a cultural heritage on the World Heritage List. This ancient village was built in the 8th century and consists of six buildings that have become "Casbah".
We also went to visit the houses where the locals lived. Their buildings have no windows, and the lighting is based on the sunlight that the corridors penetrate. Many buildings are three stories, the bottom is the stable, the second is the granary, the third is the residence, and the scenery from the third floor is super beautiful.
I really like this ancient village with a sense of vicissitudes. It is said that I have shot more than 20 Hollywood blockbusters here. When we went, it was morning. There were very few people in the whole village. We were a group in the whole village. After the afternoon, we were all people. When we left the village, we could see the mountains from the distance. The feeling of being a person is super high. If you want to visit, it is recommended to be early.
Mio..
It took about 5 hours to cross the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech. In the afternoon, I came to the village of Ayut Ben Haddou, which was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by the United Nations in 1987.
The ancient castle village, which is built in the 12th century, is said to be built in the 12th century. It is a mountain village castle built by Berbers to defend the enemy. The house is adjacent to the mountain, with stone steps twisted and inserted. Moreover, the houses are made of mud bricks made of local red clay. The mud bricks also erected the city walls and built up the arrow tower.
The earthen architecture here feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter, so the people who live here feel very special, even if they are in a very poor place, they still feel that it is not difficult. . However, many people are very inconvenient because of the traffic here, and the location here is far away, so they are moving away from here, leaving only some craftsmen, still using their traditional skills to tell us that the time here is very old.
The most beautiful time here is probably sunset time. All the earth colors here will become the best looking golden color. The sunset glow here gives us the feeling of being generous. This extremely exotic place attracts everyone who wants to explore the desert, and stays in the Sahara for a few days.
JOJO’s wonderful trip.
Ait Ben Haddou Village, built in the 8th century AD, is located on a desert oasis in southern Morocco and consists of six buildings that have become "Casbah". Casbah is a peculiar architectural form that is very popular in the region, where both the dwellings and the granaries are built into a fortress style. The buildings here have no windows, and the lighting only relies on the sunlight that the corridors penetrate. Ascend to the top of the mountain overlooking the village.
Desperado.
Ouarzazate, a small town on the edge of the Sahara Desert, is a place where Berbers lived for generations. Since the directors of Hollywood discovered this land of feng shui, the scenery of this area has frequently appeared in national films. The locals set up a movie city along the way, a bit like the Moroccan Hengdian. "Tongtian Tower", "Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time" and "Sex and the City 2" have all been photographed here. Recently, the relatively hot domestic movie "Red Sea" is also here. The nearby village of Ait Ben Haddou in
was originally a village fortification built by Berbers, a fortress village that once guarded the commercial route to the Sahara. It still maintains the past scene, and it is exactly what you showed in front of you more than a thousand years ago. The original residents have all moved away. With the development of the tourism industry, a small number of them have gradually moved back. Here, the store opened a booth to sell various handmade souvenirs. One of my favorite movies, "Tongtian Tower", was shot here, and there is a game of power that you like but I have not seen.
People mostly climbed to the top of the mountain. I stayed at the foot of the mountain, strolled around the alley, and ordered a cup of coffee on the street to wait for them. A cup of latte ten dirhams, more than seven yuan. Sitting on the roadside with a simple grass shed, the sand in the wind, drinking coffee with sunglasses in a thousand years ago.
Desperado.
The village of Ait Ben Haddou is located in a small village in the Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco. The village was built in the 8th century AD and is a must-see village in the desert. It is also the most representative ancient of the Berbers in Morocco. The village is known as the most beautiful ancient village in Morocco.
In this ancient village, the red houses and the earthen walls are almost connected, and this also expresses the architectural characteristics of defensive residents.
UNESCO put it on the World Heritage List in 1987. It is also the shooting place of many Hollywood directors, where more than 20 Hollywood blockbusters, such as "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Treasure of the Nile", "Mummy" and so on. Therefore, it is a popular local attraction and there are quite a lot of tourists.
There is an ancient city in Ebenhad in Marrakech. The whole ancient city is made up of mud. In the early days, it was a village of Berbers of the original Moroccan inhabitants, backed by the Atlas Mountains, facing It is a desert oasis. In such a beautiful environment, many movies are filmed here.
In order to resist the harassment of bandits, local indigenous people built tall fortresses, watch towers and arrow towers. Time flies, the hero goes! The fortress was only eroded by time, and the young man continued to go out to make a living. The village is getting old every day and there are fewer and fewer things to see.
Such a building structure is too interesting. The households are not far apart, but they are not on a plane. The more you see the heights, the more you climb to the top! An ancient village can be protected until now, and you can't help but admire!
lenka.
Ait Ben Haddou's fortified village
gobi beach is built on the mountain. There is a red-yellow earthen village, which looks like a sand castle on the beach. The village of Ait-ben-haddou was included in the United Nations World Heritage Site in 1987 and is also the village of Zui in Moroccan. This Quartet is a representative of the Kasbah building, an excellent defensive tower and a typical former Sahara resident. There are many houses built in the defensive wall, and there are also an arrow tower for auxiliary defense. Ait Ben Haddou, located in the province of Ouarzazate, is a classic example of architecture in southern Morocco.
Many people inevitably find it familiar, and they have all found this familiar trace in a series of Hollywood blockbusters such as "Game of Thrones" and "Mummy". The favor of the big directors has made this an African Hengdian. Some people have laughed and said that every villager here may have been a group performer, and he is deeply impressed. To this day, there are still six Berber Aboriginal people living here, selling handmade carpets and pottery for a living. All the way to the summit is a variety of goods that make people linger, slowing down the pace of visitors.
Cookie.
Ait Ben Haddou was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by the United Nations in 1987. The ancient city is located at the foot of the mountain at the south of the High Atlas Mountains. It is about 1,000 meters above sea level. The locals say that this ancient city has already It has a history of more than a thousand years, but according to the preservation instructions of the United Nations, the remaining buildings should be relics after the 17th century.
In fact, before the ancient city was listed as a cultural heritage, it was famous for its Hollywood filmmaking scene. It was first recorded in 1961, "Lawrence of Arabia", and then in 1962, "Sin City of Sin" Gomorrah has been filming here. In recent years, "God and Ghost Warrior", "The Prince of Persia", "The Game of Rights", "The Action of the Red Sea" and so on have been constantly on the scene.
Miss Cat.
We really lived in a hundred-year-old castle that was not open to traffic, no electricity, no access to the Internet, travel by donkeys, lighting by candle, and all use red clay!
The castle is built in the village of Ait Ben Haddou in southern Morocco. The entire village is listed as a World Heritage Site and is also known as the most beautiful village in Morocco. More than 20 Hollywood blockbusters have been filmed here, like "Mummy" and "Gladiator".
Our hotel, Kasbah-tebi Castle, is the most magnificent one in the village. It is a layer of earthen walls. The soil is not easy to conduct heat, it can be warm in winter and cool in summer. The roof is Bitter wood, used to repel mosquitoes, paintings and tapestries on the walls are all handmade.
Great early in the morning, the glare of the sun is infiltrated all over the body, the sky blue is completely thorough, the Muhammad brothers run the castle, the brother serves the guests in the store, the younger brother runs outside to do the market and do a little Buying and selling. Everything was quiet, palm trees were swinging branches and leaves, and the curtains were smashed by the wind.
I am Ann An.
Ait Ben Haddou was built more than 800 years ago. Originally, this sand was only a Berber settlement in the desert, and later a huge fortification, all the tall walls and the cornices on the wall. It is all about dealing with the violations of Arabs. Nowadays, many Hollywood movies are being shot here, and it has become a huge photography base. Moraco, the Moroccan Hollywood, has been formed.
Come to Ait Ben Haddou Village first to a distant view platform, from a distance to Hadoo Village, the entire village is a lot of castle-like building complex. The fortified group is on the hillside, and it seems to be back to the scenes in the movie that I have never seen before. Entering the village is going to hover along the hillside, and it will take a while to arrive. The red earth buildings are built along the hillsides in layers, which are very impressive.
There is a city wall on the periphery of the fortified group. The fortress-like gate is the tenth episode of the third season of "Rights and Games", the place where the dragon mother liberated slaves. The picture below has a large hole, and there is also a small hole in the fortification wall on the hillside. The stories are all spread from these holes. There are countless movies in the scene here, as long as you can see the movie in the village, the filming scene is more for the whole of Morocco. Are friends who have not stopped yet to come to Morocco with a movie?
